We were also in other places on this street, but... read more The Confiserie Fornerod is one of several places with outdoor seating in attractive pedestrian area Grande Rue. We were also in other places on this street, but before departure from Morges we decided to have a coffee and a snack here. Perhaps we were influenced by the brochure 'In the traces of Audrey Hepburn ', a resident for 30 years, that is almost half of her life, by near Tolochenaz. When she came to Morges, she apparently loved the Confiserie Fornerod, as she had a very sweet tooth despite her ever slim figure. We ordered coffee outside, then went in turns inside to pick up a snack that had te immediately paid. In contrast to so many other places with the same policy, we had to make three payments for a visit.

They have an amazing offer of cakes and pastries, including a fantastic wine pump, the traditional local cakes with apple and pear. The visit is worthwhile for a bite alone.

This is a place the locals love, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic Swiss experience. There used to be many places like this in Switzerland, but now they are being replaced by Starbucks etc. For me there 's nothing better than a tea room for lunch (soup, quiche, sandwich, salad or omelet for example) and usually it 's less expensive and more pleasant than a restaurant. Particularly lovely to go on a Sunday, when everyone who is local is there. Right in downtown Morges, on one of the pedestrian streets. Enjoy!!!
