Reviews summary
Nestled in a charming setting, Millbrook Café offers a tantalizing menu of fresh comfort food, renowned for its wood-fired dishes and delectable desserts. Diners often praise the flavorful offerings, from the standout French onion soup to the creamy crème brûlée. However, many have experienced frustratingly slow service, with long waits for orders that detract from the overall dining enjoyment. While the ambiance is perfect for leisurely meals and intimate conversations, attention to guest service remains an area for improvement. Reservations are recommended to secure a table at this cozy eatery, ensuring a delightful, albeit sometimes drawn-out, culinary adventure.

What Peter Audia dislikes about Millbrook Cafe.:
I paid $30 for a chicken breast that was only about 6oz and the size of a cookie. What happened, Millbrook Cafe? The food was excellent, and I've always enjoyed larger portions before, like a half chicken. This must have been a mistake! I've visited Millbrook Cafe dozens of times and left very disappointed and still hungry this time. A meal should leave you satisfied, and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. While I... The food was delicious and served on cast iron dishes to keep it warm. It's a small café, so be sure to call ahead for reservations. The service was a bit slow since the café was crowded, but that wasn't the fault of the servers.
The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The food is absolutely delicious, leaving you excited to come back for another meal.
I have never encountered such slow service in my life. We celebrated my husband's birthday with a reservation at 7:30 PM, but it took nearly 20 minutes for our server to take our drink orders. Although our drinks arrived fairly quickly, I had to find another server to place our dinner orders. We didn't receive our entrees until around 9:30 PM. Having spent 11 years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, I noticed the staff polishing silverware, cleaning glassware, and chatting with each other. If the restaurant had been busy, I would have been more understanding—I'm not usually one to complain (which may be surprising given this review). However, sitting down at 7:30 and not leaving until about 10:45 with a party of four is quite perplexing. There were plenty of staff members, and the place wasn’t crowded at all. The problem seemed to be a lack of attention to guests; the servers were more focused on their conversations and side tasks than on serving us. On a positive note, the food was absolutely delicious. But take my advice: if you decide to go, don’t arrive starving or thirsty, as you may end up waiting a long time. (My husband had even warned me beforehand about their notorious slow service, which is why he suggested I eat before we went.) I hope you work on improving your service standards.

Incredible food, outstanding service, and an unforgettable experience. I visited Millbrook Cafe with a friend on a Saturday night, eager to enjoy a meal. We started with the French onion soup and a large salad, shared the chicken entree, and finished with a rich chocolate lava cake. The chicken portion was just right—neither too big nor too small. The service was warm and attentive; it felt as though we were the only guests, welcomed so genuinely it almost felt like home, thanks to the head waitress’s nurturing presence. As two young women, my friend and I felt completely comfortable throughout our visit. Plus, the blonde busgirl was stunning. I would give this place 100 stars if I could. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I've visited Millbrook Cafe dozens of times and left very disappointed and still hungry this time. A meal should leave you satisfied, and unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. While I truly admire the culinary skills here, the portion size was a real letdown. Maybe the rising rent in Millbrook is affecting the menu portions? Please consider increasing the size of this dish. Your restaurant deserves to thrive, and with so many great options around, customers will keep coming if the menu meets their expectations!
We’ve been visiting this incredible restaurant for the past seven years, and Dominika and her chef husband stand out as exceptional hosts and culinary experts. The food is simply unbelievable—we don’t have anything like it in NYC at the moment. When you're in Millbrook, be sure to make a reservation at Millbrook Cafe! It's truly amazing! For vegetarians, the owners are happy to accommodate requests and customize dishes. They are passionate food lovers. Dining at Millbrook Cafe feels like being at your best friend's home, where both owners are culinary school graduates with honors. Honestly, this level of quality just doesn’t exist in NYC, especially not in the past two decades that we've lived there.

Ordered takeout for an early Mother's day. I had the scallop appetizer. The best I've ever had. My husband had shrimp cocktail appetizer. He was very happy with the flavor. We both had the duck dinner. The horseradish sauce was a little over powering but the duck was cooked perfectly. We can not wait to actually dine in. 5 stars!!!
This quaint restaurant offers a carefully curated menu of culinary delights. It's an excellent spot for enjoying comfort food and having relaxed conversations. Be sure to save room for dessert; it's highly recommended!
I've dined here several times for dinner, and each experience has been enjoyable. The staff and owners are incredibly courteous and friendly, creating a warm atmosphere. The food is consistently excellent, with the duck being my personal favorite. The drinks are also quite good. I recommend making a reservation, as the restaurant is on the smaller side and tends to fill up quickly.
This has turned out to be our favorite restaurant in the Hudson Valley. We live in Fishkill and have eaten in some of the best, restaurants in the valley. Also, being native New Yorkers, we eat at great, no some of the best restaurants in Manhattan. The Millbrook Cafe is a FIND. The food here rivals some of the best restaurants in the Hudson Valley... and MANHATTAN. We 've been to some of the best steak houses in Manhattan. Nothing... compares to the wood fire steak that is prepared in this restaurant. Also, their French onion soup is the best! Not salty. It is better than a the soup that we had in a 'renowned ' French restaurant that we visited this summer in Manhattan. Let me tell you, if The Millbrook Cafe was in New York City, you 'd have to reserve days in advance! It 's that good. Paul Messina.
We left my cousins alone. A small casual dining with very good food. It is usually produced in a wood oven. If you are looking for a relaxing dinner and not in a hurry, this is a great place. The French onion soup is very good and the cream brulee is exception. Friendly service. The entries are usually dimensioned. Reservations are recommended. A
