Was Anonym at El Tucho a mag?
Went on a suggestion from a local and glad I did. The place was busy on a Saturday afternoon with couples and families. Great waiter! Ordered a michelada and the botanas just kept coming and coming! Live band just topped off the experience! You gotta...relax like the locals! View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about El Tucho:
This place is a joke, avoid it, go to Eladio's on Calle instead. The idea is that waiters bring you a selection of snacks with each round of drinks. We were asked where we're from as we sat down, and seemingly as they found...out we're not local they decided they wouldn't bother. We received a bowl of crisps, the kind you get with every drink everywhere. After our overpriced drinks, greasy crisps and a terrible live... View all feedback.

I ended up here for lunch because it was around the corner from my hotel. But I thought it was good! Started with a drink and a nice variety of botanas, and then had the queso relleno. It was the only time time I got...that so I can't compare it to other places, but it was good. Went back another time in the afternoonjust for the drinks and botanas, and again got a variety and plenty so that dinner wasn't necessary. There was a show gong on that probably would have been very funny if my Spanish were better. But one of the women was an amazing singer, so it was still fun to listen to. Not the place for conversation as the music gets so loud, it's hard for the waiters to hear your order. They were all friendly though, and it made a nice break from the tourist sites.
A friend recommended this place. Order a drink and they bring free appetizers. My mojo to was pretty good. LOUD live music. Hard to communicate with each other or the waiter
These types of restaurants are known as Centro Botanero because they bring you a variety of small dishes while you order drinks. I went on a Friday and they had very good local comedians, I'm not sure if they are there every day. I tasted...lots of different local cuisine, I recommend you go there if you want to try many different dishes because they are bite size, so you can try different ones.
We visited mid afternoon on a very hot Meridian day. Wanted to go to La Negrita which was closed, stumbled upon this place as close to our hotel. Music loud but not overbearing. Lots of local families with children of all ages, separate play area...for kids (good for us traveling with an year old). Drinks were good, hubby stuck to beer and I stuck with vodka. The beer/margarita combos looked and tasted strange, definitely an acquired taste! We ordered two mains (conchinita pibil and skewers) both we’re simple but tasty. Pibil a tad oily. Botanas came out with our first round of drinks, large selection given (see photo All in all we had a great afternoon escaping the heat here, we would walk past later at night as it is on the way to our hotel, and at that time it’s much more noisy and loose! I wouldn’t take kids there in evening.
