Good food, but not so much choice because some dishes on the menu were not available. Interesting dishes that I haven’t seen before in Yucatan.
Highly recommend Nectar. We started with the Chayitas for an app, and some pre-meal piña mezcal drinks. Delicious! I had the Pork Belly and my friend had the Hamburguesa Cordera (of which I had a bite or two) and the fries that came with the burger were out of this world. Service was top notch. Will definitely return.
Sat at the bar which gives you a great view of the open kitchen. If you're alone or with a partner, this provides a window to how Robert Solís has applied French and other international culinary techniques to his take on Mayan cuisine. Good, interesting food and good ambiance, especially the small and more private second floor tables.
The evening was happy, although there were only two tables with men (incl. us.) the black two were really interesting and also really enjoyed the tomatensteak.
After years of being open, Nectar remains one of the best restaurants in Merida. It is not cheap, but the quality is great. I ordered chicken breast, something not often on offer in Merida unless a la plancha o empanzado, both usually if not always overcooked, and this dish was perfection, tender and juicy, with a great sauce and delicate mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Overall, it is expensive but worth the price for the occasional dinner or to impress out of town visitors.
