Was Hélène Guerin at Cafe Montejo a mag?
I staid in the area with a friend and we had breakfast here several times. One of the waitresses speaks very good English. The food is good, the garden is nice to sit in. Definitely recommend a visit. View all feedback.

We were headed to check out the neighborhood around Parque Santiago, so my husband did a quick search for someplace to grab breakfast and found Café Montejo. The front is very unassuming. You can easily walk past it aside from a small standing sign on...the sidewalk. We have seen pre-COVID pictures of tables on the sidewalk, making it easier to find. Once through the doorway, you step into a nice size courtyard garden set with about eight tables with giant umbrellas. It’s super cute, quiet and there are lots of plants throughout. For a while, the only sound came from the windchimes. As expected, with COVID restrictions, all of the staff were wearing masks, and the menu was available by scanning a QR Code. The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly and worked with us as we tried to order in our very basic Spanish. My husband was excited to see Hot Cakes 95) with either Ham or Bacon on the menu. He got three plate size pancakes with four nice slices of Ham. They were excellent, and the staff was happy to bring him extra packets of Maple Syrup. I opted for the Huevos Divorciados 115). The dish had two Fried Eggs on crispy Corn Tortillas, separated with rolls of sliced Ham. One egg was topped with Red Sauce and the other with Green Sauce. There were served with delicious fried Plantain, Black Beans, and some Toast rounds. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the sauces were flavorful, and there was plenty to eat. We also had a Coffee Americano 30) and a Coca-Cola Lite 25). While the food and service were excellent, the highlight of our breakfast was our lesson on Chocolate. We could see a woman running a belt-driven grinder in the corner of the patio, and our server told us they were making Chocolate. He told us about the beans that were roasted and then ground. First, she ground Canela (Cinnamon), Sugar, and Peanuts. Then she followed that by grinding roasted Cacao beans and combining them. It smelled incredible, and she was very happy for me to watch her work. There was a small table with their Cocoa and a few sauces packaged for sale as we left. They had a spicy Salsa with Peanuts on our table, which we never tried we saw it again in jars and looking back which we had bought some. It sounds really interesting. Charming place, the food was excellent, and we’d go back to try more of the menu. Two notes at the risk of stating the obvious the in Mexico denotes Pesos. So, don't be alarmed if you've been to more touristy areas in Mexico where prices are in US dollars. At the time of dining, our costs in US dollars were: Hot Cakes with Ham – 95 pesos or about $4.75 Huevos Divorciados – 115 pesos or about $5.75 Café Americano – 30 pesos or about $1.50 Coca-Cola Lite – 25 pesos or about $1.25

The food and drink here is ok. The ambience is great, in the courtyard of a lovely colonial building. Usually service is friendly. Today, we arrived at 2:55, were seated, given menus, and ordered drinks. The drinks arrived at about 3:05, and at 3:07, we...were given our check and told they closed at 3:00. Basically Get Out . Word of advice: If you're closing 5 minutes after people walk in, tell them. We also ordered a mixed smoothie and they came out with 2, saying that we had to pay for both because they had to make 2 in order to mix them. They didn't mention that when we ordered. All in all, we felt disappointed and ripped off. In short, they close at 3pm, and ask what the cost will be for any off-menu item,

The owner was awfully rude. they serve small portions. and if they are lucky, they sell alcohol dressed as coffee in sauces.
