Description

A comprehensive review of Two Fat Indians reveals a mix of experiences from customers. Some were disappointed with the service, feeling neglected as their food took a long time to arrive while delivery drivers were prioritized. I turned up without making a booking and was looked after straight away. The staff were very attentive and the food was served very promptly. the open plan kitchen allows you to see your food being prepared.

TFI doesn't have the traditional three page, close spaced Indian restaurant menu, instead offering only a dozen or so options for mains reflecting their culinary story and family specialties. That should work well for them. We visited with family for dinner. Good restaurant vibe, and child friendly with high chairs available we don't often notice these but one was right next to our table and the occupant rather loud! Food was mostly excellent, with chef accommodating our party special requests (swapping lamb for chicken on a couple of dishes) without complaint. TFI is missing out on the top mark I'd want to give it for two reasons the naans were more like roti, and the butter chicken stuck to the very traditional recipe involving a tin of tomato soup as the base for the sauce, resulting in a rather sweet dish that didn't translate to modern Indian at all. Great service on a new year's eve, which was rather busy, so staff clearly know their stuff.

We saw this place when we went to the test so phoned and booked it. Then changed the booking to the following day with no problems at all. I arrived late after getting stuck on the other side of the stadium but the guys had already had a beer and naan while they waited. They were asked 4 times if they were ready to order. I arrived and we ordered after about 10 minutes. Everything was delicious. The meat in the curries tender. We had wine and the girls had a cider each which they want to buy up take back to NZ. We all enjoyed our meal, the service and the relaxed atmosphere.
