Tipo 00 - Melbourne
Tipo 00
Description
Tipo 00 in Melbourne is a popular spot with mixed reviews from its diners. While some found the pasta dishes underseasoned and overpriced, others raved about the food, ambience, and service. The restaurant is described as tight and hard to maneuver, with waiters being both busy and unfriendly at times. However, those who enjoyed their experience praised the delicious food, generous portions, and cozy atmosphere. Overall, Tipo 00 seems to be a hit or miss depending on personal expectations and preferences, but those who love it can't get enough of the truffle risotto and chef's menu.

We came as a walk in for lunch and were lucky enough to snare a seat at the bar!We chose the chefs banquet menu and I can honestly say this is the best meal I have eaten in a long time! The standout dishes were the focaccia and ricotta, truffle risotto, Wagyu pappardelle and tipomisu!! Amazing service, wine and food! Not as expensive as I expected at all. Not to be missed ❤️❤️❤️
First things first: if you definitely want to eat here (and you should) then book in advance. We went mid week and had to book about 3 weeks ahead. Yes they take walk ups but there just simply isn't room for the number of people who chance it. On the night we were there I saw a steady stream of people get turned away.Yes it's small and noisy, but it's small and noisy done well. Often when a place is described as 'small' you find yourself having to precariously balance plates on mini tables with there always seeming to be one dish too many for the table to accommodate, or alternatively, banging elbows with the people at the next table. Not so here. Both the tables and the distance between them were spot on given the space available. And although it was noisy it wasn't the kind of 'noisy' that requires shouting just to maintain a conversation. There were three of us at our table. We shared several starters, a couple of mains, a side and two desserts. This coupled with several wines (we were buying by the glass, so not necessarily the most cost effective method but one that allowed us to try a few different wines) came to $245. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. My only disappointment was that I couldn't try everything on the menu. The wines were all expertly described by the wine waiter and were good matches for the dishes we'd ordered. Our booking was for the 6-8pm service and although we were aware that people would be booked for our table at 8pm there was never a point at which our meals or the service we were given felt rushed. All in all a fantastic evening and I can't wait to go back to try some of the dishes I missed out on this time around.
Seven of us went for dinner. We had a vegan diner with us and her food for the four nights we have eaten out in Melbourne has been under whelming! When we arrived we were told that we were having a banquet dinner which we were unaware of until then. The banquet was amazing with three entrees to share, two main pasta dishes and one dessert each plus share plates of dessert. Our vegan guest was served exactly the same number of course at exactly the same time as ours and we were actually wishing we had all ordered vegan because her food too was amazing.Great food, great night and great service for such a busy restaurant!
Superb. Superb. Superb! It’s our third time here, and the food had been amazing each time. We always made sure we have this restaurant in our itinerary every single time we’re in Melbourne city. This time we ordered the Mafaldine and Brussels Sprouts, both were top notch and delicious! The ambience of the restaurant, together with the amazing service staff, completes the perfect dining experience here. Make sure to book a table but we were lucky to have gotten a spot through walk-in during lunch. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–40
