Feedback
Tequila's restaurant has received mixed reviews. Some customers were put off by the lack of service and unappetizing food, feeling that the place was more like a fast-food joint. However, others found the food delicious, with generous serving sizes and great value for money. Positive feedback was also given on their margaritas and friendly service. The authentic Mexican atmosphere was praised, as well as the fresh, flavorful food. While some customers were disappointed, the majority seem eager to return for more tasty dishes and refreshing drinks. The restaurant's appeal seems to lie in its comfort food offerings and relaxed environment.
Warmly welcomed by the staff and treated to a wonderful dinner with a large jug of margarita to assist in our fun night. Loved it.
We were heading to dinner and stumbled across this Mexican Restaurant while driving down Toorak Rd. We decided to not go to our usual haunt and give something new a try.Regrettably, the entire experience was meh.The décor was kitsch Mexicana (a little too tacky, less is more people.) Cheap wooden tables and it seemed like a small business which we are always happy to support. We were seated and brought over some water and glasses and they gave us a few minutes to look over there menu. I ordered the Chimichanga and my friend ordered the Enchilada. My Chimichanga arrived in about 7 minutes which was alarmingly fast. It was to come with Mexican rice and a pineapple/pomegranate salsa. Well that salsa had about 5 pomegranate seeds and the pineapple? What pineapple? The baked tortilla was overpowered by tomato paste. The chicken was however tender. It didn't have much flavour. The rice, where to start. Obviously made ahead of time and reheated once orders come in. The didn't even bother to make sure my rice was fluffed or not stuck together (which it was).My friend's enchilada looked really dry and why be stingy on cheese? Hers came with a bean dip, guacamole dip and salsa. She gave me her guac and it was probably the worst one I have ever had. If you can't "make" guacamole, what kind of Mexican Restaurant are you? That should be an absolute staple! We had still not been asked if we would like to order any drinks. As a small business which was not particularly busy on a Saturday night, don't you want to try and get as much money out of the patronage you do receive? For many a business, the drinks menu keeps them afloat.Onto dessert. I asked the waitress if the Churros were homemade. She answered no, they are frozen. WHY aren't you making churros?? That's just entirely LAZY.We ordered chocolate mousse instead. AWFUL. How can you screw up chocolate mousse? A five year old can make that. It was grainy, an awful consistency and just unpleasant. The vanilla ice cream that accompanied it was ok. A little too cinnamon spiced but ok.All in all, I don't recommend this restaurant. I watched the other few tables service and all the food looked below par.I went to the bathroom (past the kitchen) and they was no cooking going on there. Witnessed the kitchenhand removing food from the microwave. Yep.We paid and left. They didn't bother to ask how we enjoyed it, nor had they ever offered us any other beverages the whole meal.Spend your hard earned money somewhere that deserves it. This is not the place.
Home on a Sunday night, living just up the road from Tequila, decide to place a delivery order as we have never had food from here. Not good at all. Ordered Combo 'large' Quesadillas with beef, rice, beans and salad on the side. Cost was $21.90.Honestly I was lucky if I got one tablespoon of each of the above sides, with 5 small pieces of lettuce. The Quesadillas itself was around 15cms long. Extremely disappointing for nearly $22!! Tasted ok though, but such a small serving, we won't be going back.
I ordered Meal 2: 2 Vegetarian Burritos and 2 flautas via Uber Eats. The guy came on a motorbike, restaurant was relatively close, but was stil kinda warm. Im not rating them poorly on that. I am rating poorly on the awful burrito. I feel bad now for spending $56 on it. The burrito is sooo bland. I do taste a bit of the mexican spices but even Taco Bill is better than this. If you are going to serve a burrito with Rice as a side, why on earth would you put rice inside the burrito? The meal is a shocker. If I ordered this at the restaurant.....I would stop and refuse to pay. The green sauce that you added was ghastly. The flauntas was just as bad but nicer. I should have just got this for dinner. 1 point for them. Dont charge so much for shocking food. Im going to feed the other ones to the magpies tomorrow and add a picture to prove it.
The waiter at this place was so nice and accommodating! We’ve ordered a fajitas and a burrito. So it was ok, but the sour cream was a bit weird and so was the beans sauce. Otherwise the meat and the rest of the ingredients for the fajitas were great! My partner also liked the burrito. I think overall this place is nothing special but still a good choice for a very casual and informal quick dinner. It’s definitely better than others famous chains.
