Was Aura L at Strictly Thai a mag?
When to celebrate my wedding anniversary, the wine list is exceptional and so is the food. You do get the real Thai experience and the service has the Thai charm. The restaurant is very clean and the owners are very polite and friendly. View all feedback.

What Angelika Albrecht dislikes about Strictly Thai:
Stopped in with my wife 2 kids for an early dinner just on 6pm. Food was nice, entrees were ok (curry puffs, spring rolls and tempura prawns) but mains (deep fried calamari, ginger prawns and pad Thai chicken) were better ingredients were fresh. Service was not bad at all, but aren't the Thai meant to be a very happy people? All is forgiven if they're mourning though. Will visit again. View all feedback.

Okay, the first thing that stood out about this place is that it is Toorak (or more specifically Hawksburn) classy, however I am still trying to work out

I just visited, ordered pad thai. I couldn't have been more clear about my allergy to garlic and onion (fructose), stipulating no fresh, powders, nothing. This time I even mentioned if they put any sauce into their food (having run into this problem before), please check it! I saw the girl write it on the docket. No onion, no garlic. Returning to my hotel, I began to pick through and noticed first the chives, then the chunks of onion. Really?? I walked back, expected staff who were fully apologetic (yes, mistakes can happen). The chef comes out, not at all concerned. I showed him the onions I'd pulled out of my dinner. First he said the green ones weren't onions, they were chives. Obviously very knowledgeable about food.... then that the brown onions were in the pre-mix that they use for their pad thai; they don't cook it fresh. I said I was very specific about my intolerance when ordering. He took zero responsibility for his mistake, and certainly couldn't care less about the pain it could have put me in. Asking if I wanted something else, I said at this point I did not. He literally waved his hand in my face and walked back to the kitchen. Wow. No excuse for this. And if I had a peanut allergy or something else that could land me in the hospital??? There is too much choice these days for people like this to be cooking food for us.... for us patrons who are able to choose where we eat. I won't go into my refund process which was also horrendous. I walked down the street to Royal Siam. No onions, no garlic in my food and actually had fresh carrot and coriander...at Strictly Thai there was nothing but bean sprouts. And, of course...onion. If I could rate Strictly Thai in the negative, I certainly would.

Booked online, and upon receiving the confirmation phone call was asked if it was a Groupon voucher booking. It appears that they get a fair bit of custom through that, and the nature of the service reflected this.Upon arriving, there appeared to be at least 5 people waiting to collect takeaway, a couple more waiting to order, myself and another group waiting to be shown to our table. All covered by one(1) staff member who was also doing the serving to the existing diners and completely run off her feet. Those waiting to order takeaway simply walked out as they couldn't wait anymore and we ended up showing ourselves to our tables. Thereafter was about 20 min before we received even the drinks menu.We eventually ordered our meals, which included two entrees. They waited until delivery of the first entree to advise that they couldn't do the second. The food itself was tasty and standard Thai fare without being exceptional. Will go elsewhere next time.

The restaurant offers a great selection of curries and Thai dishes. I wish the food was a little spicier, but it's still delicious. The red duck curry is highly recommended.

I highly recommend Strictly Thai if you are looking for a restaurant with friendly service and authentic Thai cuisine. The Barramundi stir-fried with chili paste is a must-try dish.
