Mr. Nice Guy Thai offers a standard Thai menu with fair prices, located among a variety of Asian restaurants. The staff is helpful and pleasant, although some customers were disappointed with the portion sizes for the price. Despite some issues with drafts and ventilation, the food is described as tasty and authentic. The restaurant can get busy and noisy, but the staff is friendly and accommodating. Overall, it is a recommended spot for Thai food in Melbourne's CBD, especially for large groups or those craving delicious Thai cuisine at a reasonable price.
I visited Mr. Nice Guy Thai with my family on a cold mid-July evening for my birthday dinner and we were seated near the front of the restaurant. This was a problem because the front door and a flap above that door would not close properly, leaving gaps through which a cold draft flowed. When we used a wedge to force the door to stay shut, this caused the flap above the door to open further. When some diners from another table (who were also cold) latched the flap shut, the staff approached us and said that it had to remain open in order to properly ventilate the kitchen. I have to say that the food was actually quite nice, but even this went cold more quickly than it should have. I was uncomfortable for the whole evening and the staff seemed unwilling or unable to help us. If you feel the cold, you should probably avoid this restaurant during winter.
Our group of four arrived early - just before 1730 hours - to find it closed but returned shortly and were allocated our pre reserved table.I enjoyed the Pad Thai, but the mushroom spring rolls served with a Thai salad were the highlight. We also had chicken with cashew nuts and pork belly.Staff were pleasant - all Thais - and attentive. Our total bill was $91 which included a $9 glass of wine. Quite reasonable. All in all a good experience - the place was popular early on a weeknight.
Picked this restaurant from a number in the laneway for dinner. Great choice. Friendly staff, good food and good value.Started with pork sticks which were tasty. Seafood stir fry was even better. Deep fried fish plus squid and prawns and they added just the right amount of extra chilli when I asked for extra spicy. Portion size wasn't large, but with rice was just adequate. Reasonable quality wine at a reasonable price. Couple of drinks and two courses for around $45 was pretty good value. Definitely worth visiting if at this end of Melbourne.
The staff were highly efficient and the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Thai green curry, which was one of the best I've had. The atmosphere is pleasant, attracting a younger crowd. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for its reasonable prices and tasty dishes.
