Was T at Matteo's a mag?
Dined here for a work function. Service was excellent. Finger food was delicious, especially liked the arancini balls. Asked for medium rare for my Angus beef scotch fillet, but arrived too well done. Had the dessert plate of 3 enjoyed the jiggly panna cotta and passionfruit tart. Chocolate mousse was a bit too rich for my liking. View all feedback.
What STEVEN B dislikes about Matteo's:
For a moment I thought l was back dining in 1988! Overstuffed, stiff and formal and the food was average at best. Clearly popular with the (advanced white collar set, Matteo 's appears to be a restaurant to be seen in rather than enjoy the experience. Ravioli was chewy and the sauce, heavy. Main 's fish was over cooked. The bombe for dessert was OK but visually was underwhelming (white bombe in a white bowl . Not an... View all feedback.
Absolutely fantastic experience. The food was exceptional with utmost attention to details, elegantly presented and satisfying all your senses .To start with the tempura Zucchini flower Teleggio, heirloom tomatoes, dried black olives basil oil and Duck confit mushroom pithivier, stinging nettle puree, creamed spinach, porcini sauce ...They were all just exquisite. The main courses we chose were utterly scrumptious. We had Pan-fried Humpty Doo barramundi, grilled bok choy, brandade fritters, sea lettuce sauce and Char grilled Victorian Black Angus beef surloin, smoked potato puree, sauteed kale, Bordelaise sauce..Wow..delicious or what. To finish our culinary sensory extravaganza the sublime Citron Yuzu gelato with strawberry-guava sorbet and coconut cream were to die for.. We absolutely loved it..We are definitely going back..If you are in town i would strongly recommend to dive in this extraordinary gourmet pampering for all your senses.
Pretty good over all. The menu did some really lovely modern takes on Italian food. The entrees especially stood out. Best quail and zucchini flowers I have had for a long time. Service was good, really happy and friendly staff trying to keep it professional but up for a laugh. Also nice and calm ambience, It would be a really romantic date night.

I was very much looking forward to this restaurant. We booked for my mum's birthday and her day was very sad as her aunty had just gone into palliative care. Not long before leaving for the restaurant my brother had also called as he was very unwell. When we got to the restaurant the waiter made several rude, condescending and passive aggressive remarks about not calling ahead to say we were 2 persons short. To the waiter be mindful that sometimes people have had a really hard day and considering you were not even busy, the restaurant was nowhere near full!! you could have been nicer. It's really not hard to be kind! Really underwhelming, especially for a restaurant of this calibre. Be mindful of your words and your behaviour. You have no idea what people may have gone through. It was hard enough to get my mum to go to the restaurant. Your behaviour really put an added negativity to the night. If it wasn't my mum's birthday I would have taken my business elsewhere. But we had already been through enough that day... Also when my son asked for the bill they would not give it to him and gave it to my dad instead . My son and I wanted to pay the bill. Again no thought on the waiters behalf. Food was lovely, but due to the service and attitude we will not be back. Price per person: $100–120 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1
I met Matteo personally and he was incredibly rude. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
