Was Leila B at MAO Please a mag?
I had such a great night here, the dumplings were so delicious and the servers were so attentive and nice. And the Mao-inspired decor was hilarious. BYOB, so take yourself a bottle of choice poison and enjoy! View all feedback.
What Dylan Lewis dislikes about MAO Please:
I was invited for dumplings and thought it would be a dumping restaurant (the melbourne has many) but this was a very basic Chinese restaurant with about 2 loose dumplings (both or pfanne friend veg) available for veggies. YUMMMM!! Unlike your usual mid range Thai food around, FOMO Thai delivers Thai dishes the way they should be.
Mao please offers an array of options of Sichuan and Hunan dishes but dumplings are their forte. A good thing, because in the “dumpling” space in China Town, Melbourne you have to hit the mark on taste, quality and value to survive. We randomly stumbled in here on a wet winter’s day for dim sim and for us, Mp got the balance right! On the way to a theatre with our grandkids we looking for a quick no fuss serve of dim sum and we fortunate enough to be ahead of the ques that formed by the time we departed. Delightfully our expectations were exceeded – the dumplings were fresh, tasty and the plate presentation spot on. Cost is under $11 for 10 or for 6 of the more exotic Xailong bao style is reasonable. There is an excellent range of choices including ample vegetarian and gluten free options. We are looking forward to our next visit to try some other dishes.
