Was Anonym at Malaymas a mag?
Big call I know but this place is the place to be when you want Malay food and want to stay in the north side of town. The Lanka and steamed chicken combination is so popular that it regularly sells out. A fantastic little family run eatery. Cash only though, so don't get caught out! View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Malaymas:
"Swap Pork for Eggplant" is not English literature. One working in a restaurant should be able to at least understand this much English. The waiter must be in his 40's.. not sure if he was the owner :/ Service was a bit disappointing but the food was great.

When you are craving for Malaysian food in Melbourne you should drop by at Malaymas. It's a cosy Restaurent located in Fitzroy. Tmyou should call for a reservation before you come here as it could be quite packed during the weekends. There are tons of yummy Malaysian food to order. I be tried the hainanese chicken , the meat is soft and succulent with the jelly like skin. Love the cucumbers and soya sauce with it, definitely should try with the chili sauce. Another fav is the beef rendang. The meat is so soft. It kinda melts in your mouth the sauce is really fragrant super yums if you eat it with white rice. We tried the fried kangkung with chili belacan too. It's awesome, it makes me think of home. If you would like noodles there are hokkien mee which is the fat noodles fried in black sauce. Another is the curry laksa which is the curry coconut milk soup with Vege and noodles.

As a Malaysian, unfortunately, we are quite particular when it comes to Malaysian food (well, at least for me). There are many places in Melbourne to get my fix, but I always come back to Malaymas and I always order the Fried Kuey Teow, as theirs is the best that I've tasted in Melbourne, without any disappointment. It's a humble restaurant (I like it that way), with a menu to satisfy your Malaysian cravings. They do really good Hainanese Chicken Rice and hot Horlicka too mmmm.... The only downside (for me) is the roti canai still yummy, no doubt, but can't beat made on the spot rotis. Decently priced and generous portions, lovely friendly staff too. I highly recommend Malaymas.

It 's been a while since we have paid homage to this institution. It has since become our reference benchmark for most things Malaysian... in particular Char Kwei Teoh, Wot Tan Hor, Kang kong and hainanese chicken rice. And of course these are our favourites... and without fail have been dishes that we always seem to order. In addition to a whole hainanese chicken to share. Tonight was no exception, the combination seafood hor fun was great same as the char kwei Teoh. The only thing that seemed lacking was the wok flavour in both. Which normally is present. this time around they have almost cut out the use of lard to fry up the char kwei teoh. Besides that it 's the same ol Malaysian goodness.

Ordered the vegetarian laksa multiple times from uber eats and it’s usually amazing but the last two times, the tofu has been missing from the meal sadly. The flavours are amazing and the food is so tasty and fresh but missing the protein of the meal is pretty major. When all ingredients are added, they have one of the best laksas in Melbourne! Service: Delivery Price per person: $20–40 Food: 4 Service: 3 Dietary restrictions: Some items can be made gluten free
