Big call I know but this place is the place to be when you want Malay food and want to stay in the north side of town. The Lanka and steamed chicken combination is so popular that it regularly sells out. A fantastic little family run eatery. Cash only though, so don't get caught out! View all feedback.

"Swap Pork for Eggplant" is not English literature. One working in a restaurant should be able to at least understand this much English. The waiter must be in his 40's.. not sure if he was the owner :/ Service was a bit disappointing but the food was great.
I would give this restaurant 4.25 stars. It used to be a favorite when we lived in the area. We recently got takeout while passing through North Fitzroy and the food was still really good. Despite being incredibly busy, the service was nice, especially considering the high number of delivery orders. We ordered the chicken curry on rice, which was quite good and had a stronger Indian flavor than I'm used to. The Gado Gado was really good, as was the FKT. All the portions were substantial and well worth the cost.
My family and I tried out this restaurant last Friday evening for the first time. We got there just before 6pm and the place was already half full. Within 15 minutes it was completely packed, which speaks volumes about the quality of the food. We ordered the curry puffs, chicken Hainanese laksa, beef rendang, and roti. The dishes were delicious and had a very authentic taste, all at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
If you enjoy authentic Malaysian hawker style dishes, you must try the food at this restaurant. They are only open for dinner, and it's common for popular dishes like har mee to sell out if you arrive late. I recommend calling ahead to let them know you're coming so they can reserve a dish for you. In addition to their excellent har mee, they also serve superb dishes like CKT, chicken rice, and many others.
I’m not sure why my friend I felt like we didn’t have a satisfying meal here. Perhaps it’s just not special enough to warrant us going all the way there.
Ordered the fried kway teow in XO, curry laksa with seafood and belacan eggplant. All were superb and decent portions. The eggplant lacked belacan though.sure hit the spot if you're craving Malaysian food.
