Was Paul F at Lume a mag?
This was our second visit, and we again had the the four course menu. It was just as before, and by that I mean, excellent. Each course was absolutely delicious and meticulously presented. In reality there were several small bites in addition to the four courses, so although the portions were on the small side, we certainly didn 't leave hungry. What Joel Oliveira dislikes about Lume:
I was actually very disappointed in the taste. Nothing was bad but nothing was memorable or exceptional. The actual room is fantastic and we were really impressed with the staff but the food was a let down View all feedback.
To Mother's Day, I must pamper my mother and I to a special devastation. I was for all the way through with delicious vegan tasting plates, beautiful wine, great service, interesting staff, a beautiful atmosphere and of course a beautiful opportunity with my mother. the philosophy of the restaurant is what encourages me to support such a place. a very nice experience.
When spending over $1000A for dinner and wine pairing for two. You expect to be very wowed. Lume was not a Wow $1000k experience at all. !! Lume would be a “nice” experience if half the price… But when after a month and many great restaurant experiences later, you cannot recommend the restaurant to your friends because you feel it is so overpriced and the most memorable dish was tomatoes and one of the degustation courses was bread and you just feel overcharged and confused, then something is missing. All the servers seemed to be overseas students with no formal training and making numerous mistakes during serving. We felt like we were in a culinary training school. The wine pairing was mostly small pours of very simple basic wines, and while innovative again did not merit the price charged. On a Saturday night in Melbourne, when most great restaurants are full, it was no surprise that Lume was almost empty. I have held off on this review as quite frankly we left confused as to how we spent so much and received such a flat experience. We do not usually give negative reviews, but feel Lume needs to up their game to deliver an experience that deserves the price they are charging. . The lack of reviews on tripadvisor would seem to indicate many leave feeling this way?

In reality there were several small bites in addition to the four courses, so although the portions were on the small side, we certainly didn 't leave hungry. My wife and I have eaten in numerous Michelin starred restaurants around the world, and there is no doubt in our minds that Lume stands up well against any one or two star restaurants anywhere and you don 't have travel very far to enjoy a world class meal! If you haven 't yet, do give it a try!
My husband and I were lucky enough to be gifted “the road and pairing” a 14 course food and wine pairing. Amazing! The food was delicious, each dish was a delicate combination of flavours, perfect portions being that there were 14 of them!, and works of art. I’m not going to say which was my favourite because even dishes that may not have appealed to my palate I still enjoyed immensely. The service staff Dan looked after us for most of the night, thank you) were fabulous, friendly attentive and very well versed in all of the food and wine offered. Dan gave us plenty of breaks between courses so we could really appreciate every course, and was very generous with his time in talking us through each dish. The wine pairing was a treat, again some wines not to my palate but loved the experience of trying them all and our sommelier Orlando was just a wealth of knowledge. The venue is lovely, not too stuffy like some fine dining can be, lots of action and chatter from the kitchen , which I love but surprisingly not too noisy you couldn’t hear yourself talk. Thank you Lume you are now my #1 !
Seriously, the best meal I've ever had. Service was incredible, cocktails and wine were perfect; courses came quickly but were not rushed. The chef and staff were kind and welcoming, not at all pretentious, though it is clearly a fine dining experience. Definitely worth a visit!
