Flower Drum - Melbourne
Flower Drum
Description
The consensus on the iconic Melbourne restaurant Flower Drum seems to be mixed. Some diners have praised the exceptional service and delicious food, particularly highlighting dishes such as the Peking duck and chef's signatures banquet. However, others have been less impressed, with complaints about bland and unimpressive dishes, small portions, and high prices. While the restaurant's reputation as a pioneer of fine dining in Melbourne is commendable, some feel that it may have become outdated and lacking in modern dining experiences. Overall, Flower Drum seems to offer a reliable and enjoyable dining experience for those looking for high-quality Chinese food and excellent service, even if it may not meet everyone's expectations.

Absolutely love the Peking duck!<br/ We had lunch last Friday with friends here<br/ Food is delish<br/ I can’t wait to come back! <br/
An iconic institution in the Melbourne food scene that has surpassed the test of time. Wasn't sure what to expect but imagined it might dish up exotic meals like those seen on Iron Chef. A little disappointed this wasn't the case as the menu was primarily Western-centric. The food was amazing and a super impressive wine list.
DO: Everything on the menu that you can afford. If you have no idea do the banquet or better yet, have a chat to the waiters and they 'll sort you out. <br/ <br/ DON 'T: Forget the wine list. <br/ <br/ TIP: There are a lot of 'off menu ' items. The Neil Perry crab Noodle is my fave. Ask the Waiters and say hello to the handsome Jason, the owner of Flower Drum
