The mascarpone was overly sweet and the biscuits seeme... read more We visited this restaurant for dessert and coffee. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the Tiramisu. The mascarpone was overly sweet and the biscuits seemed to be not soaked long enough, resulting in a lack of flavor from the coffee and liqueur. The apple crumble my dining companion ordered was also a disappointment, with a strange taste reminiscent of chemicals. While my latte was decent, the short Macchiato was burned. It was evident why this place was empty while many other restaurants on Lygon Street were crowded.

My friend and I both had the seafood salad which was more of a potato salad with a few bits of seafood...thrown in. Flavour ok without being too memorable. We wanted to finish with a cognac or Cointreau, but were told they were out, despite there being a liquor store a couple of doors away. We then overheard the waitress telling another table they were out of a couple of the desserts, despite it being fairly early and nowhere near full. There are definitely better on Lygon street.

The wine list was extensive and the food was very good, A lot of choice and suit most...budgets. We started with oysters and they was fabulous...We both had the flounder, hadn't had for a long time and it didn't disappoint. Yes a very good choice.

I have eaten many risottos but... read more It looks good like the old restaurant. Do not expect to enjoy your meal like the old days. New owners talked but did not deliver. I have eaten many risottos but never like this not a heap of rice strangely it was...like it had some powered mushroom soup in it. Pasta serve was small for a main. Lemon tart filling was dry and not fresh. There were plenty of floor staff but they did not listen very well. If you have an Entertainment Book they do not honour that which is fair enough. Last night Lygon St was buzzing not so for The Italian Cucina. Recommendation: Get the food right if you want to be a respected Lygon Street restaurant!

The restaurant is conveniently located next to Clock Tower Parking.
