Ants Bistro, located just off Little Bourke Street in Melbourne's Chinatown, offers a pan-Chinese menu with an emphasis on northern and Szechuan cuisine. Despite being tucked away in Corr's Lane, the food at Ants Bistro is great and very reasonably priced. The restaurant is BYO wine only and the menu indicates the level of heat in each dish. Dishes like spring onion pancake, beef dumplings, spicy pork ribs, Szechuan duck, and ants climbing trees are all highly recommended. The atmosphere and decor may not be exceptional, but the service is efficient. With generous serving sizes and decent pricing, Ants Bistro is a hidden gem for delicious Asian food in Melbourne's Chinatown.

We happened upon this restaurant near Little Bourke Street with a wide-ranging menu offering great value Chinese dishes. We particularly enjoyed the San Chow Boa, however, the duck pancakes were a bit of a letdown. The service was attentive.
The restaurant was hosting a private party upstairs, which seemed to distract the staff. Our meals were served one by one, causing one of us to finish before the others even received their food. This seemed to be a common occurrence, based on other reviews. Although the food was good, the incredibly slow service left us unsatisfied. If we hadn't already paid, we would have requested a refund, as there were no apologies for the delay.
