After a long flight home from the UK we decided to head down to Puckle St for breakfast - our daughter suggested 42, though we had been before.Quickly shown to a table that we selected; water and glasses arrived immediately afterwards and just a short further on the coffees all arrived; complimentary papers and then the plates were only a few minutes after all of that.Poached eggs on sourdough with a hollandaise sauce; smoked salmon with scrambled eggs - everything cooked well and on warm plates as well - great food and great to be home.

Great coffee and cakes. Decor is really cool. Outdoor setting good. Definitely worth having a coffee and more here.

There weren't many options for breakfast at the 42 Cafe Bar in Puckle Street, as the area doesn't come alive until 10 o'clock on Sundays. We decided to have lunch instead, which was always good. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was lacking and the restaurant felt cold, which may have been why it was empty. We ordered the pancakes with caramelized banana and mascarpone, which looked appealing but disappointed in taste as the banana seemed diluted and the pancakes were doughy. The homemade beans on toast were lukewarm, but the fried eggs were cooked perfectly. The coffee didn't taste as good as we had remembered from previous visits, as it had a strange aftertaste.
