C.b. Scoops
Description
C.B. Scoops in Medford Square is a beloved ice cream shop that often draws large crowds, which can lead to long wait times and inconsistent service. While the establishment boasts a loyal customer base enamored with its top-quality ice cream and friendly staff, recent operational challenges, including equipment failures and cleanliness issues, have raised concerns. Despite these setbacks, many patrons appreciate the shop’s cozy atmosphere, diverse menu, and unique offerings, such as diabetic-friendly options. Overall, C.B. Scoops remains a community staple, yet some loyal customers have expressed disappointment in recent changes, prompting them to seek alternatives.

They struggle to manage the busy crowd they typically have. I can't understand why the owner, who seems quite greedy, won't hire more staff. It feels like he enjoys making customers wait 30 to 40 minutes just to get their orders ready.
This is our family's favorite ice cream shop. The staff is always very friendly and efficient. The ice cream is among the best I've ever tasted. I highly recommend it—10/10!
This is in Medford Square. You have the option to sit indoors or outdoors [nice during nice and convenient weather]. Street parking is available but there are lots with meters. They won't disappoint. Lastly, there are other goodies like macaroons and such.
We absolutely adore C.B. Scoops! A huge thank you to everyone involved in keeping this delightful spot running. The ice cream here is of top quality, along with other beautiful desserts that taste just as amazing as they look.
This summer they are experiencing A/C outages, freezer failures and unexpected closings without updating their websites. Something has drastically changed in this business in the last 6 months and it can't be blamed on the heatwave. The floors are always disgusting. The soft serve is either broken, grainy or soupy. They don't have an entire column of their menu available, and what ice cream they do have, is too soft to be called ice cream. It shouldn't be served if it doesn't stay formed long enough to get out the door. Half the staff are pleasant and capable, the other half are rude, don't pay attention to orders and are slow. The last 4 items I purchased from the the dessert case were dried out, or tacky, and overall just not fresh. As a longtime, loyal patron since they opened in 2010, I am disappointed in the quality shift and also frustrated that this is the only place in the community, aside from ice cream delivery services (which I will start using). This isn't just supply chain issues or heatwave. Other ice cream stores across Boston and Somerville are operating just fine. Based on the signage, and what I have seen, there are lines out the door, so this business is still making money money hand over fist despite these issues. There is zero reason why fixing this equipment shouldn't be more of a priority. In the meantime, I am taking my business to a cleaner place (without a million obnoxious signs), that has cold ice cream served by more consistent staff.
