I read all the reviews, and it's clear that others have had similar experiences to mine from three and six months ago. It seems like the owner doesn't care that... read more I read all the reviews, and it's clear that others have had similar experiences to mine from three and six months ago. It seems like the owner doesn't care that there is an unpleasant older woman working there, who is giving the restaurant a bad reputation. I lost my keys in the bathroom and went back in just seconds later, only to find they were missing. No one offered to assist me, and I was convinced someone must have come in after me. To make matters worse, the restroom was left in disarray with the toilet seat up and unflushed. I returned to my car to check and then went back into the restaurant three times. Finally, the rude woman publicly accused me of trying to blame her for my missing keys, even though I never accused her at all. I ended up having to approach the register myself, and there, tucked away in a corner that anyone could easily overlook, were my keys!

Came with my whole famil... read more Was very excited to eat here. My mom has a house in Mathews, but I live out of town. My mom said the food and service were really good. Came with my whole family; mom, brother, sister in law, two nephews and my son. Sat down around 6:30 and orderedshortly after. Our food did not come until after 8pm. Other tables arrived after us, got their food and left before our foodarrived. Waitress never checked on us, let us know there was a hold up, or refilled our drinks. A manager?, I guess because theynever identified themselves, came and apologized and refilled our drinks for us, but it was still 30-45 min after that that ourfood arrived. Would have left but we had hungry kids and thought the food couldn 't be that far from arriving. They offered togive us dessert, but who wants to stay any longer at a restaurant they 've already been at for two hours? My brother and hisfamily were leaving to go back to Richmond after dinner and now their departure was delayed significantly. The hot dog meals forthe kids were basically inedible, the crab on my brother 's hamburger was cold, and I had onion rings that still had the skin ofthe onion on them. We tried to be patient and understanding of short staffing, but this was beyond comprehension. After wefinished our meal our waitress tried to apologize, but it was more of an excuse with the words it is what it is coming out ofher mouth. Not in the service industry it isn 't. Nothing was comped and it seemed they could really care less about our terribleexperience. We have many friends in the area that frequent Richardson 's. We 'll be sure to share our story with them. What amissed service recovery opportunity.

It is a very cool looking, unique place. However, service was non-existent. I would go so far as to say our server was angry, and maybe she was, but we didn?t know or have anything to do with it. She didn?t ever ask us if we wantedany additional water, and when we asked for our server to come back (by asking another) she showed up several minutes later. Idon?t know how overwhelmed they could have been as there were empty seats and a growing line. I had the chicken and dumplingscombo special. The sandwich was good, but the dumplings was a salty brew of something gross.
