I ordered takeout and noticed that the restaurant was not very clean. Additionally, the food was not top quality.
A year later, I decided to return to try the desserts at Sugar Marmalade. It was a scorching and humid summer day, with multiple heat warnings in place. We entered the cafe hoping for a cool, air-conditioned environment where we could enjoy some snacks and use the wifi. Although we did get some cool snacks and wifi, the place was only loosely air conditioned. Despite this, we opted to stay as we didn't want to drive around town in the intense heat. Luckily, we managed to secure a booth with a power outlet nearby. Unfortunately, the wifi connection was spotty. I opted for the Fresh Watermelon with Black Grass Jelly Mixed dessert. It consisted of fresh watermelon and black grass jelly in a coconut milk base. It was alright, but there weren't many watermelon cubes or grass jelly in it. The coconut milk base was overly sweet and I ended up not even drinking it, choosing to focus on the watermelon and grass jelly instead. My friend ordered the Fresh Watermelon Juice, which was also average. Paying $6 for a small mug seemed a bit steep for what we received.
