Was Anonym at The Water Stop a mag?
We had an early dinner here on our way north from BIg Bend area. The burrata with tomatoes and artichokes and baguette was delicious. The green chili burger had just enough heat. I enjoyed a nice glass of red wine from a thoughtful wine list and wish I’d had more time to try a cocktail or two. The vegan chocolate mousse was a sweet way to finish off a nice meal. We ate on the patio which is lovely but inside is also... View all feedback.
What Anonym dislikes about The Water Stop:
endes stopped at a weekend for an order. the burger was dangerously rare. I cooked it even more when we came back to our airbnb. they were kind of cold and undercooked. take away food. View all feedback.
Absolutely best black bean burger i ever had and mom said the Au Jus did was so flavorful. Even my dad liked the chile burger and he is an old Marfa native.
Poor service was the theme of our visit. Can't even comment on the food, since we didn't get anything but our appetizer. When we arrived, we were told that they were closed for a bit for a private event; no worries, we waited until the time they told us.When we showed back up, they sat 6 tables all at once outside. They then realized it was cold outside, and scrambled to get their heaters placed and lit. Turns out they were a tank short. They poorly placed the remaining warmers, leaving the section of the restaurant we were sitting it in out in the cold, literally. We asked if I hey could relocate some of the warmers to better distribute heat, especially since they were getting a wood oven going in a corner where they also had a warmer. The waitress said she needed to get somebody, and we never saw her again. After that debacle, it seemed the waitresses couldn't remember who had what table. We waited 20 minutes to get service. The table they sat us at was under a gap in the roofing, and it was raining. I asked if I could move the table a few feet to get it under some cover, and I was told it's raining on everyone It was another 20 minutes before we got our appetizer. The appetizer tasted like it had been warm at one point, but, much like our table, was forgotten about for a while. We immediately asked for the check, because we were fed up. All we had to show for being there for over 45 minutes was a cold appetizer, and possibly a cold (we'll see in the morning). Even getting our check took forever; we ended up leaving cash on the table and leaving. We ended driving past the restaurant about an hour later, and they still had the warmers poorly distributed.
$25 for 8 ounces supposedly tenderoin, I had better sirloin, and the frits were over boiled dry and almost burned. the service was pretty good, I felt bad for the waitress that served this food. we let the waitress know during the meal, but no one came out to talk to us.
I absolutely adore the cuisine at this restaurant! They serve the freshest produce in such a rural location. The atmosphere is very romantic, well-lit with outdoor heaters and a cozy interior. I visited this place about once a week for four months when I was in the area. However, there is a server named Johnny who was a bit creepy and tried to ask me out on a date through Yelp, which I did not appreciate.
