Nestled in Withington Village, this local chippy has garnered mixed reviews, reflecting a diverse range of experiences. Many patrons appreciate its affordability and generous portions, noting satisfactory fish and unique offerings like saveloys. However, various complaints highlight access issues for those with disabilities, inconsistent food quality—including soggy chips and chewy fish—and lackluster service from the management. While some guests fondly recall positive past visits and the friendly atmosphere, others express disappointment, urging potential diners to consider their options carefully. Overall, the restaurant exudes potential but seems challenged by fluctuating standards and customer service concerns.

Went there last night October 2019). The food was incredibly overpriced £4 for a very small portion of chips, a sausage and a very small pot of curry sauce). The curry sauce was disgusting and tasted of puke and the staff member didn't close it properly so it was all spilt by the time I got home. The man at the counter was rude and unwelcoming and I regretted giving him my hard earned money.

Very surprised at the negative reviews. I’ve always found this chippy to be brilliant. One of the best in Manchester. Very traditional sit in chippy. Chips always properly cooked, proper mushy peas. I think nothing of cycling or getting a bus just to go to this chippy rather than one local to me. There was also another shop in Northernden ran by an Iranian lady that was owned by same people. When she was working the food was beyond reproach! Where has she gone?

They don't approach Grimsby fish and chips.

This place is suitable if what you want is a simple, cheap, abundant food quickly. The fish was fine, some of the warm accompaniment dishes and fries had a little painted. Staff for the type of establishment. There is no atmosphere or decoration to speak but quite well for the price.
