We had a lovely dinner on the heated patio. The food was delightful. Our table shared an array of appetizers and dessertsMy entree, the chicken was delicious. I also loved the potato side and the mushrooms. The service was delightful, unrushed and friendly. We lingered over our dinner for over two hours. The creme brulee was perfection, with a light texture and balanced citrus flavor.A perfect location for a special occasion
Sadly, the food is not what it used to be. Menu was bland or weird (avocado salad with oatmeal granola). Nothing really French about it. Escargot come in their shells now and out of 6, 2 were missing. Mussels were dried out and lacked flavor. The broth used to be delicious. Husband's steak was small and fatty. Spent a fortune and left dissatisfied. Drinks were good but very pricey. Server was great. Heated outdoor patio is very nice. Will not return.
My first time here and was a great place for our date night. Our dishes were delicious of halibut and beef and the dessert was a perfect way to end the night.
Bar Bouchee may be the best restaurant in Madison. Maybe Central Southern Connecticut. While their menu has more wine and drinks than main menu items, the food are authentic French dishes that do not disappoint. The wait staff is amazing. There whenyou want them, invisible when you don't. Their advice on menu items was spot on. We could not have had a better time or meal.
The best restaurant we’ve been to in Connecticut. Despite the usual French posters about absinthe and apéritifs, the room manages to keep an authentic bistro atmosphere, thanks to typical high chairs/benches (separated with plexiglas panels). Thestaff was super friendly and accommodating, which is the only part that didn’t feel typically French ???? We had the hangersteak with gratin dauphinois, and it was flawless. The steak was actually rare (like we ordered), and tender. The gratin wascreamy, with a touch of garlic. Only the greens were of questionable usefulness in this plate (since they brought more fat thanacidity). We had the chocolate pot de crème for dessert. I expected something good but relatively heavy. It was surprisinglylight (all things considered), and the chocolate was most surely French. We’ll definitely be back! PS: we came with a babyand the owner had arranged a table with more space, so we could keep the stroller with us.
