WARM, INVITING ATMOSPHERE AND A ENGAGING AND WELCOMING STAFF. THE FOOD WAS EXCEPTIONAL AND PERHAPS THE BEST WE'VE EXPERIENCED IN LOMPOC. THERE WERE NO LONG WAITS OR LINES FOR SERVICE AND PRICES WERE FAIR AND REASONABLE. WE HAVE BEEN RECOMMENDING IT SINCE WE DISCOVERED IT....PASTOR BILL AND A.M.E. CHURCH.
My husband and I have lived in California for over 30 years. We never experience poor, non-existent service like this. They will not serve you if you look like an outsider. We came in, stood for a while waiting to be seated. Eventually, an older man pointed at booths for us to sit. We did. Nobody brought us menus. We got up grabbed our own menus. After we decided what we wanted, we sat there for 10-15 minutes. Not one single server greeted us, offered water, nor said a single word to us. When I saw one waitress chatting to the old man at the front desk, and another waitress still chatting with her large party after dropping off all their food, that was it.We left. They clearly did not want our business.
So, I 'm not from Lompoc, but for now.... I 'm here.Anywho, we 've been to Budget Cafe a couple of times at this point. So, here it goes.Don 't order the waffles. I know waffles and these ain 't it. Gone at take yourself up the street to The American Host for the fantastic waffles. We went last night for dinner. The waitress was so busy caking with some dude at the bar, she couldn 't post attention. She brought our salad and upon the first bite you could tell it was old. The lettuce tasted like it had been frozen, then thawed. Gross. We called the waitress back over to let her know... her response oh, ok . She took the salads and never offered to bring up anything else is return. My partner order the Steak and Shrimp dinner. 25 minutes later is brought to the table with NO STEAK. My partner reminds her that there should be steak. The waitress says well you got lucky. The cook put 2 extra shrimp on the plate. I 'll let him know to make the steak now. Bad experience and the lack of response to the negative comments from the company let 's me know they could care less.It 's Budget for a reason... spend a couple of dollars more and get yourself a better and complete meal and better service.Whoops Whomo
I always love a good breakfast and this mom and pop resturant was great. Good ole' tradition home cooked breakfast. Service was awesome.
We will not be returning to this restaurant. We decided to give it a shot because we loved the previous establishment owned by the same owner, Lompoc Restaurant, which has since closed. My husband ordered a burger, which he described as just okay—nothing remarkable. I opted for a Club Sandwich on sourdough, but it was nearly inedible; I barely managed to eat a quarter of it. First, they used the wrong type of bread, the turkey was extremely thick and dry, making it difficult to chew, and the cheese was simply terrible. I suspect it was that processed American cheese that comes wrapped in plastic, which is quite unappealing. The meal cost us $35 (including sodas), so it was definitely not a budget option unless they consider their low-quality ingredients as budget-friendly. At the previous restaurant, I always enjoyed this sandwich; it was consistently delicious and always served with a pickle and carrot garnish. This time, it came without anything extra, which was quite disappointing. We left feeling regretful for spending our money here instead of choosing a place where we could have enjoyed our meal.
