Steak 'n Shake - Lebanon

Got a take out order. Only took 15 minutes including walking to and from the big truck in the parking lot behind Steak n Shake.*Update*Kiosk ordering.... scan receipt at drink station to get yourself a soda you paid about $2.65 for. Folks are polite and the food is still as good as usual, but it 's so impersonal now... if you hate people you 'll love eating in. The system doesn 't seem conducive to people hanging out at all. Employees have their backs to you for the most part. They might as well go to closing the dining room and just having walk-up and drive-thru service ala Checkers .

It's been a while since I've been to Steak and Shake, never been to one that was automated with nothing but cooks and 1 person putting out the food. Could have used some instructions somewhere about how to use the soda machine. Lacked the human touch that I'm used to there. Definitely a little jarring, especially when they asked for a tip. Like, you don't have ANY wait staff, why the hell would I tip. I don't tip the guy working the drive through at McDonalds, why would I tip for basically the same thing indoors?

They have tasty burgers, I just wish they were bigger. Overall, I would recommend.Burgers are tasty and different from MD and

Difficult to order. Must use the self order kiosk, no no salt option, not very user friendly. No cashier or waitress option. Self serve all the way and the kiosk still asks for a tip. Have to use QR code to access drink dispenser. Not very busy at the height of lunch.
