Whenever I have friends who visited me in Bohol, this is one of the place and/or attraction I let them experience. I have done it so many times and it never fails to amaze me every time. The lure of this place is to be able to enjoy the beauty of the river riding to the falls with good food and great entertainment in an hour and half not including the wait though (the queue is always long for its very popular to many tourists). Each and every floating restaurant has a different menu yet the variety of filipino food we have, there's plenty to choose from. As the boat starts its journey to Busay Falls there are singers to entertain you while you enjoy your lunch. The river is murky but the water is clear that is why it is called "Loboc", a variant to the Visayan word "lobog" meaning "not clear". As you passes to where the locals normally wash their clothes and takes a swim you will get a glimpse of how clear the water is. But as it pours to the river its clarity shows the muddy bottom hence its murky appearance. At the end of the river are small waterfalls where the boat will linger for a while to give you ample opportunity to take pictures before it heads back. It will stop at a floating stage where you can watch the locals perform some of the Filipino Folk Dances like the "Tinikling" and the "Coradang". They can even let you participate in the revelry of it all. Then off you go to where you started and alight with not only a full stomach but a sense of happiness and a piece of the Filipino spirit. So whenever you visit Bohol, this attraction is a MUST.
The river cruise is quite expensive for local tourists at 850 pesos, not including environmental and other fees. However, for those looking to experience a unique adventure, such as buffet lunches with limited food options and live music by a duo singing acoustic ballads, it may be worth it. Guests can also enjoy watching a group of native dancers performing tinkikling before reaching the waterfalls. For the more adventurous, there is an opportunity to join in on the traditional bamboo pole dance. Despite having been on the cruise four times, the landscape remains unchanged but the calming nature never fails to relax the mind and body.
The scenic view by the river is absolutely stunning. The food is decent, but served buffet style. There is a two-person live band that performs well. The price is reasonable at nearly 850 PHP. Unfortunately, our boat experienced mechanical issues which caused a significant delay in our trip, causing us to miss seeing a waterfall. Overall, I would not choose to visit this restaurant again.
