We enjoy exploring areas outside of Austin, and during our recent drive to downtown Kyle, we stumbled upon the BEST BBQ. From the moment we entered, the young lady at the cash register was incredibly friendly. My mother needed a bit of time to look over the menu, and she was very patient, even offering to help with any questions we had. That was really thoughtful! Everyone we encountered was nice! What Justin M dislikes about Milt's Pit Barbeque:
I hate to say it, but the brisket and turkey were dry, and while the sausage had great flavor, it was mealy. However, the scalloped potatoes were excellent. I really love the location and hope this was just a one-time bad experience, so I will definitely try again. View all feedback.
I ordered what was hands down the most delicious BBQ potato I've ever had, while my mother enjoyed a brisket plate with a rib. Every bite was delightful! We loved the food so much that we decided to take some brisket home with us. This is a fantastic local spot located in a charming downtown area. The food is amazing, and the service is EXCEPTIONAL. We will definitely keep returning to Milt's!
Upon entering, we were greeted by a delightful aroma of smoke that wasn't overwhelming—just the right amount to get us in the mood for BBQ. The menu features the usual lineup of meats: brisket, chicken, ribs, and sausage, along with sides like potato salad, beans, mac and cheese, and cheesy corn. The staff was friendly and attentive. I opted for the three-meat plate (whose name I can't recall), which included brisket, a sausage link, and two substantial pork ribs. I also tried the coleslaw and mac and cheese. The brisket was absolutely perfect—tender, moist, and seasoned exquisitely. The ribs practically fell off the bone while still maintaining a bit of chew. The sausage was Lockhart sausage, which isn't my favorite, but it was decent. The mac and cheese was good, though I personally think it could benefit from some jalapeños. The coleslaw was tasty. Maria had the smoked chicken, which was well-seasoned; the white meat was juicy, while the dark meat was a tad dry. She also enjoyed the potato salad, but found the beans a bit too sweet for her liking. Overall, I highly recommend Milt's for BBQ.

Everytime I visit my brother in Buda, we always take a trip Milt's in Kyle! Brisket melts like butter, they serve Lockhart sausage too! Awesome sides...must try bbq beans, german potato salad and surprisingly their Fries!! Place is always clean and the staff are super friendly!!
Having lived in Kyle for a few months while our house was being constructed in San Marcos, we always saw Milt 's Pit BBQ whenever we drive along Center Street on our way to our townhouse rental. We always planned on stopping by to check it out, especially after we struck up a conversation with a couple from Austin while we were at the Design Center who spoke highly of their experience there. It wasn 't until after we 've actually moved to another short term rental in New Braunfels did we stop by and had a late lunch at Milt 's after checking something out for the new house at Home Depot. Parking along Center Street can be troublesome (especially having to back out of those parking spaces when there 's a bit of traffic) so we made it a point to park across the street around the park. At Milt 's you place your order at the counter, get seated and wait for your food. Our server was really friendly and very informative which helped us with our choices My wife, who earlier wanted some baked potato, ordered the BBQ Spud and I tried their Milt 's 2 Meat BBQ plate with the moist brisket and the Lockhart sausage served with BBQ beans and potato salad. My wife liked her baked potato. It had lots of cheese, pulled pork and sour cream and all those flavors worked for her. My brisket was good but thought the sausage was a bit too soggy , if that is an appropriate term to use for sausage that 's not dry enough and lacking the snap in its casing. Ample juices were oozing from the sausage as I try to cut into it. I suppose the flavor was decent enough but prefer a drier sausage for my taste. Both the BBQ beans and potato salad were very good. Lunch for 2 came out to just under $26 with tip and military discount.
