Thai Kai Cafe - Kuranda
Thai Kai Cafe
Description
Nestled in the heart of Kuranda, this restaurant offers a mixed dining experience. While some dishes, like the cashew nut stir fry, receive rave reviews for their fresh flavors and generous portions, others, such as the vegetarian pad Thai and chicken Laksa, fall short of expectations, lacking seasoning and authenticity. The service is consistently praised for being prompt and friendly, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. Despite the charm and reasonable prices, inconsistent food quality raises concerns, suggesting that diners tread carefully when choosing their meals. Overall, the restaurant leaves patrons with varied impressions, both good and disappointing.

The pad thai was excessively greasy, lacking the authentic taste I experienced in Thailand where it is made with less oil. The dish had no flavor. Similarly, the green curry was disappointing with just green beans, carrots, and tasteless tofu pieces. The food arrived quickly, but was of poor quality. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Really fast service (granted it was 2 pm so not lunch rush). Got the green curry and the chicken cashew nuts stir fry. Green curry was nice and creamy and delicious. Chicken stir fry was so flavorful. Definitely recommend it in Kuranda! The service at this restaurant is excellent and quick, however, the vegetarian pad Thai and vegan fried rice lack flavor. The dishes seem to be lacking in seasoning and appearance, almost like they were made from a frozen packet of vegetables. Despite this, the restaurant has a charming atmosphere.
