**Café Pyrus: A Mixed Bag of Vegan Delights and Disappointments** Café Pyrus has long been celebrated for its vibrant vegan menu and inviting atmosphere, making it a downtown favorite since its inception. While the restaurant offers an extensive selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, including the popular "Angry Vegan" sandwich, recent reviews indicate a shift in quality and service post-pandemic. Patrons have noted price increases that overshadow portion sizes and flavors, leading to dissatisfaction. On a positive note, the café remains a cozy spot for coffee and boasts commendable staff who prioritize dietary restrictions. Despite some disappointments, many still appreciate its values, including food donations to local soup kitchens.

Was Iris Auerbacher at Cafe Pyrus a mag?
I love Cafe Pyrus so much! I’m not even vegan and find myself craving many of their dishes. The cinnamon buns are hands down the best I’ve ever had and the Foggy London Town is to die for! You can really tell the difference in the quality of their ingredients vs other chain restaurants. For example the London fog from Starbucks tastes horrid now after experiencing Pyrus. What Belma S dislikes about Cafe Pyrus:
I am going to preface this review by stating that I have been a customer of this establishment since winter of 2016. The tempeh salad was always my go to. It was so much so that the one lady with the curly hair knew my order as soon as I stepped in.Fast forward to post pandemic- staff has changed so much that I rarely see the same person twice. Prices increased to the point where now this bad boy is $16 and runs you... View all feedback.
The majority of the items on the menu can be made gluten-free for an additional $2. This restaurant offers a tasty selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes.
So many options for vegan and vegetarian; like literally we were confuse on what to order, as we are vegetarian and not lot of places have extensive menu designed around vegan/vegetarian group! So their employee suggested me to go with ‘The angry vegan’ which is their most popular one. It was delicious. Also we tried their in-house baked focaccia which was again so crisp and tasty. The vibe to it is just low-key like any other downtown coffee shop. A little expensive thou. They have lot of space and we like that they won’t mind if you sit their working on your laptop for couple of hours.Vegetarian options: All items on their menu are vegan!
Café Pyrus has been one of my favourite neighbourhood gems since I moved downtown. I’ve enjoyed every single thing I’ve ever ordered there. The only thing I like better than the vibe, yummy food and drinks is the strong values and integrity this business operates with (donating extra food to the soup kitchen amazing!!! . Love this place.
My friend took me to Cafe Pyrus and it has quickly become one of our favorite relaxing spots! The seating is comfortable and well-spaced, the staff is always friendly and accommodating, and the menu offers a good selection for those with food sensitivities. During our most recent visit for a light lunch, we enjoyed the food immensely. I was delighted to find that I could safely eat the soup of the day, with the full ingredient list readily available at the register for easy reference. When I asked to swap out the side of toast (which I cannot eat) for tomato slices instead, the staff respected my request and accommodated me. I am very pleased with Cafe Pyrus and highly recommend it to anyone in the downtown Kitchener area!
I came across this restaurant by chance and had a great experience. I usually wait until a restaurant's memory lingers in my mind for more than a day before reviewing it, but this place was exceptional. Plus, they offer FREE WIFI! I ordered a flat white and it was fantastic. The coffee was well-balanced and delicious. The restaurant offers a mostly vegan menu with a few dairy options like cheddar cheese and regular milk for coffee. I tried the breakfast club, which came with a hearty slice of warm tofu and tempeh. The to-go containers are biodegradable, and the prices are reasonable for the location. There are various seating options for small families, individual diners, and students looking for a place with free wifi and great coffee.
