Cactus Pete’s buffet offers a mixed experience, reflecting its shift from a beloved local spot to a typical casino eatery. While service is frequently praised for being friendly and attentive, the food quality divides opinion. Some highlight tasty seafood, salads, and comforting sides like mac and cheese and baked potatoes, whereas others criticize stale offerings, greasy dishes, and overpriced buffet items. The atmosphere suits casino visitors looking for convenience rather than gourmet dining. Ultimately, Cactus Pete’s appeals to those with modest expectations, though it may disappoint diners seeking a refined or consistently fresh buffet experience.

Was Skidd R at The Buffet a mag?
I went here for my Birthday and let me tell you the service is amazing, I love the food and where it's located, mainly because it's centered in a casino so I don't have to travel far to use all my hard earned money on slot machines, but hey it's a life. But much like how my life is going right now I lose mostly, especially when playing poker with my ex-wife Karen who decided to show off her new man. But jokes on her... View all feedback.

What Mark A dislikes about The Buffet:
It's disappointing to see this place close for good; it was a beloved part of Pete's that many people cherished. However, Pete's has changed significantly over the years. What used to be a vibrant, locally-owned destination has become just another profit-driven establishment. When it was locally owned, it was a four-star gem, but since corporate America took over, it's turned into just another roadside stop in Nevada... View all feedback.

The food was disappointing. It's usually good, but tonight it was terrible. The prime rib was dry, the salmon was also dry, and the chicken was undercooked. I'm not sure what kind of water they were using, but it tasted awful. The crab portions were very small, making it a lot of effort for just a little bit of meat. Considering the price of the meal, there were simply too many letdowns.

The buffet at Cactus Pete's was quite disappointing and definitely not worth the $17.95 per person price tag. The selection was mostly Mexican dishes along with a sparse salad bar. On the positive side, the fried shrimp was delicious! However, the shredded meat for the tacos was dry and unappetizing. In fact, many of the items looked like they hadn't been refreshed for hours, even with so many diners present. I will never return—such a waste of money!

First thing I noticed were flies near the register and enterance. Clean place, but flies... Staff were friendly and working well. Food was, at best, average. There were no options for hot vegetables, but rather meat, potatoes and mac&cheese. Highlights: pork was good. Deserts were good. Overpriced at $20 given the quality of most entries. I cannot recommend this place.
