Reviews - Rulloff's
Reviews summary
Nestled near Cornell, this bustling eatery offers a strong drink selection and standout burgers—especially the lamb burger with blue cheese and fresh toppings—earning loyal fans for balanced, flavorful fare. While some praise the attentive, compassionate service and charming ambiance, others report inconsistent food quality, slow service, and questionable management practices, including surprising gratuity charges and occasional poor customer treatment. Busy hours bring noise and cramped seating, and some dishes, like the risotto, disappoint. Overall, the restaurant shines in drinks and select dishes but struggles with consistency, pricing, and equitable service, leaving diners with mixed experiences.

What Thapakorn Jaroentomeechai dislikes about Rulloff's:
Horrible place and obvious racist. We have been waiting at the bar for a good 15 mins, asked female bartender twice for a menu. Then after decided on the drink, we tried to order more than three times. Every time she said I?m busy, let me deal with otherstuffs. Apparently, her other stuffs include chatting with a group of white people and ignoring us. After the third attempt toorder, we left. Bottom line, if you don?... View all feedback.

Happy hour drink specials are great, but the food leaves a lot to be desired and the service is iffy at best. Our waiter didn't ask if we wanted more drinks before happy hour ended and then got upset with us for going to the bar instead. Also DO NOT orderthe risotto- its awful. Our waiter also added a 20% gratuity even though our party was only 4 people.

The food was outstanding, particularly the burger and appetizers. The portion sizes were quite ample. However, it was a little crowded.

Insanely slow service at brunch, was served a cold eggs Benedict after waiting 45 minutes for it to be made. Didn't serve everyone at the table at the same time and I was finished with my meal by the time the last person at the table was served. Awful experience, only thing they are competent at is pouring beers. Edit: included a 20% gratuity fee on the check as well, pretty ridiculous. Can assure you I will never eat here ever again. **** poor quality.
Today I came in for lunch and was very disappointed . I ordered the 14 dollar burger medium with truffle oil fries, $2 add on and got a medium rare burger, with a stale bun, and fries that didn’t have any truffle oil on it or parmesan cheese. The tomato jam that supposed to be on the burger wasn’t even jam, and the bun was Breaking apart. The water test funny and my lunch was not Pleasant at all. I spent $18.25 in total for this lunch. The only thing I have to say positive about my experience was the nice bartender lady was very nice and educational about the name runoffs and where it came from. I think the prices are waaaay to high, and the quality of my meal was way to low. Now I know the owner of this place is a very good business person and his other food businesses in Ithaca make delicious high-quality food. However this business isn’t one of them. Either your cooks need to be trained better on making the food, or your not putting enough effort into this business like you do the others. Either way you guys need to step it up. I want another burger on the house but this time cooked to perfection and with Quality ingredients if you want me to spend anymore money there.
Great burgers! The place gets very loud when it is busy, and the tables are packed fairly tight. But if it isn't the busy time, go grab a lamb burger (freakin' A list burger, right there). Decent beer selection, but nothing out of the ordinary big craft breweries.
The drink selection is extensive, and I've always been pleased with the bartenders' recommendations. The food is quite tasty as well, especially the burgers and some of the salads. It can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but I've never had any trouble getting food or drinks.
Breakfast: A beautiful, charming spot in College Town right next to the Cornell campus. The food was outstanding; I ordered the two eggs with toast and domestic fries. The service was excellent as well. Our waiter was attentive, refilling our coffee as needed. He even shared the intriguing story behind Rulloff. Don't forget to check out the pictures—they're worth a look!
