Reviews - Simeon's American Bistro
Reviews summary
Simeon's restaurant in Ithaca Commons has received mixed reviews from patrons. The recent redecorating was well done, but some found the food to be tasty yet a bit overpriced for the portion sizes. While the kale salad, salmon, and steak were all noted as delicious choices, some diners were left disappointed by slow service and loud atmosphere during their visits. In contrast, others had a positive experience with excellent food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant offers a variety of locally sourced dishes and a good wine selection, making it a nice spot for a special occasion or date night. Despite some inconsistencies in service and quality, Simeon's remains a popular dining option in the heart of downtown Ithaca.

I was in the city for a concert and decided to give this restaurant a try after reading some reviews. I'm glad I did! We ordered the brussel sprouts, kale salad, and rutabaga soup. My husband had the ahi tuna burger. Everything was excellent.
The meal was fantastic, with excellent food and service. I will definitely be coming back in the future.
Everything was great from the moment we made our reservations to interacting with the hostess, waitress, and busperson.
Great eating, the specialties where it is worth. the service was a bit out, but it was okay. the muddles are a must.

Great service, beautiful place and amazing food! My favorite place for brunch, really recommended.
This is a famous place in Ithaca, however, some of their dishes might not live up to expectation. So you really have to either try and see which ones you like, or do some research before and see what they are famous for. Here are the ones that I liked for brunch: espresso martini, French toast, Croque Madame. I do not recommend their omelettes in general.
The food was excellent, although the fries could use some improvement. The staff was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place.
The food and service were excellent. It's a bit more upscale compared to many other restaurants in The Commons.
My husband and I were here tonight for our date night. We were delighted! The watermelon feta salad was bright and tasty. My husband had mussels which he was craving; he loved them! I had the sea bass special; absolutely delicious! I had the pinot grigio; wonderful! Taylor was very attentive and professional. Thank you! We will return! ??

Since the remodel, the restaurant has a much brighter ambiance. Personally, I preferred the darker, more subdued atmosphere before. There is now additional seating on the second floor with beautiful views of the street and park. The chairs upstairs also have wheels, which is a nice touch. The food was amazing as always. The raw oysters for starters were cold and delicious, and the pickled vegetables were crispy and not too tangy. The local lamb was slightly tough but still flavorful, and the lamb back was incredible. The bitter greens and large couscous complemented the meat well, although the sauce could have been more flavorful. The dry-aged steak was superb, cooked to perfection, and the potato gratin was tasty. One thing we appreciate about Simeon's, along with their attention to detail, is the portion sizes - they are just right. The main courses are served in a way that allows for an appetizer and a small dessert without feeling overly full.
This restaurant may be slightly more expensive than others in the area, but it is worth it for the high quality and interesting food. It is a wonderful spot for special occasions or a date night. Our server, Cody, was fantastic and we were able to fully unwind in the gorgeous atmosphere.
The salad was excellent, but the entrée was a bit salty. It was enjoyable to sit outside and watch the people walking by on Aurora Avenue. It was too cold to sit inside, but the service from the server was wonderful. The menu was good overall.
Our server was delightful, the Cauyuga Gold Martini was amazing, and there wasn't a single dish we didn't thoroughly enjoy. :
