Reviews - Agava
Reviews summary
Agava, once a family favorite, has lost its appeal due to recent issues with service and food quality. Multiple patrons have complained about slow service, mistakes with orders, cold and undercooked food, and unimpressive portions. In addition, some customers have experienced poor treatment from the waitstaff, with one waitress even breaking down in tears when asked to communicate with all members of a party. Despite these negative experiences, a few diners still found the food to be enjoyable and the service to be attentive, especially appreciating the farm-to-table concept and accommodating options for dietary restrictions. Overall, while Agava was once a highly regarded restaurant, recent visits have left many customers feeling disappointed and frustrated.

This place has a large menu and offers vegetarian and gluten-free customers. we had a big party of 12 and everyone was more than satisfied. we had margaritas, apps, escape and dessert. my son had the chocolate cake and said it was great. my niece, rubyz, took the pictures for this review. I am very grateful if they are in the mood for good eating and a bright hearty atmosphere.
Hands down the best place to eat in the city. the staff were very friendly especially mirabai was amazingly attentive and fantastic great. she should get a raise in salary. In portions are too small, but that is what they get at gourmet sites anyway. I tried hard fish, ink fish, otopus, salmon and cheesecake and really loved all food. even their drinks were great. I'd go back to town if I were in town.
Very nice farm to the table restaurant. our server was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. everyone enjoyed their main course and the guacamole was excellent. I recommend agava.
The farm to eat table was delicious, well prepared and presented. we shared the pistachios guacamole, scallops and fry chicken breast. the quad was delicious and plentiful. the scallops were served at a perfect temperature, still soft and juicy. the chicken was the outstanding dish, juicy and tasteful with crispy, well seasoned skin. service was friendly and attentive.

Waitress was the rudest I've ever had.. would not split up checks .. we paid on one card and they took a picture of the guy that paid! Ordered food ,it never came and was still charged.. wouldn't go back if it was free
Nice and ambiant dinner experience after local Cornell women's hockey game. Joshua was very good with his asst. Dinner wasnt as warm as I like but he was very busy with a lg 16 party table. The bugers were as good as last time and it is nice to have gf bun too. Thanks for a lovely night!
Amazing! I can’t believe I haven’t rated this place yet. I have been here numerous times, every time I had great service, the food of course was great too. Definitely my go-to place in Ithaca for dinner.

Excellent farm-to-table fare Vegetarian options: The cauliflower steak was quite good, with an excellent hummus.
Very disappointed for my first visit. Always wanted to try this place and will never go back. I found the longest grey hair in my sandwich that I have ever seen. The service was awful and my waiter was extremely rude. Ugh so disappointing.
Dinner came out before first cocktail. And cocktails were ordered when we first sat down....in and out in under an hour....rushed....plenty of open tables and sat right between 2 couples....been here numerous times, this was disappointing esp for a birthday dinner.

Agava is a fantastic farm-to-table restaurant with a friendly and knowledgeable server. The main courses were delicious and the guacamole was exceptional. I highly recommend dining at Agava.
The fresh and locally sourced food at this restaurant was absolutely delicious, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. We indulged in the pistachio guacamole, scallops, and roast chicken breast. The guacamole was flavorful and generously portioned. The scallops were cooked perfectly, tender and succulent. The standout dish was the roast chicken, which was juicy and packed with flavor, boasting crispy, well-seasoned skin. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal.
The restaurant has an amazing ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food. They offer unique and creative menu options that are definitely worth trying!
Very poor service. Drinks to half hour and then drinks appetizer main course all Cale together. No excuse
Agava used to be a family favorite, but they no longer have a basic burrito. April 2019 they advertised on FB that they would have burritos for National Burrito Day but when we went for dinner the waitress made us feel out of line for asking. Also put an aoili and sauteed onions on the kids cheeseburger, which did not work for our child, but the waitress didn't come back for so long we were just ready to leave when she finally showed. Some food is great but our past couple visits have been so frustrating, it's now off our list.

This delightful restaurant is ideal for enjoying a tasty meal or drinks with friends. I have been several times and always have a great time. Its location on East Hill, near my home, makes it a convenient choice for me.
I had high expectations for Agava, but after two visits this fall, I was let down each time. Although there were a few positives, there were also some negatives. One highlight was the atmosphere...
