Big Red Barn - Ithaca
Big Red Barn
Description
Nestled within the Cornell University campus, this restaurant offers a dual personality: a serene study spot by day and a lively gathering place by night. While the food is affordably priced, some dishes may disappoint with uneven flavors. The venue boasts a charming ambiance with beautiful gardens, making it an inviting place for students. However, service can be inconsistent, with reports of rudeness diminishing the experience. Despite a few operational quirks, like mandatory gift card purchases for beer, the venue shines during Happy Hours, offering $1 beers and fun events like salsa nights. Ideal for those seeking a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere.
Feedback
The portion size was generous, and it came with a side salad, but unfortunately, the flavors fell flat. The sauce and fillings were unevenly spread, resulting in some bites that were mostly just greens and others that were just hummus. It's an affordable option, but I wouldn't recommend anything else on the menu.
The Mediterranean packaging is excellent, and the portion sizes are reasonable for the price. The Portabella sandwich can also be made vegan, which I plan to try soon! On another note, the Big Red Barn is one of my favorite places to study. The atmosphere is very quiet and cozy.
This is a fantastic spot for students to gather, especially during their Happy Hour specials on Friday afternoons. It's hard to beat the $1 beers and complimentary finger food. Plus, there's a surprisingly good dance floor for their monthly salsa nights and the occasional dance party!
An amazing place for cheap beer with colleagues (usually Friday). During the school year it is also a nice place to take a sandwich or soup around the lunchtime. The BRB also houses a good selection of events (Swing Dance, Trivia and more) that are always fun.
Located on the Cornell University campus, the large red bars are a wonderful meeting place for graduates and exhibitions. The car park offers stunning views of Cornell's watchtower and landscape. Indoors is a café and plenty of space to relax with tables and chairs sofas and nooks here and there or visit friends. The building is located in a renovated bar and has an old ambience accentuated with a new architecture that seamlessly connects to the building. The building is surrounded by beautiful gardens.
