This is a pretty good Japanese izakaya! The decor is traditionally Japanese, with photos of Japanese celebrities who have visited adorning the walls leading up to the seating area. Vintage Japanese cinema posters cover the walls as well. After a long day, I sat right at the bar, where the crowd was mainly made up of Japanese and Japanese Americans, which led to some interesting conversations. The izakaya offers genuinely authentic cuisine, along with a selection of Japanese and Hawaiian beers on tap. I ordered the tuna bowl and a Kirin beer, and found the prices to be reasonable, complemented by fast and friendly service. The atmosphere can be a bit loud due to the bar setting and the number of patrons. For larger groups, there are spacious seating areas and tables available!
I had a fantastic experience at Izakaya Takonoki in Waikiki, Hawaii. I've visited several times and I've consistently enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, and the service. I would give it 20 stars if I could!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant with its excellent service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. The authentic Japanese atmosphere was truly enhanced by the presence of so many Japanese patrons. It was quite lively when I first arrived, but a lot of people left before I took my photo. If you enjoy Japanese cuisine and are visiting Oahu, this place is a must-visit. I just wish I had discovered it earlier in my trip so I could have dined here more often.
