Sushiya - Honolulu
Sushiya
Description
In a blend of casual experiences, the restaurant offers a range of sushi and poke bowls praised for freshness and flavor, especially the house sauce and fried onions. However, some dishes suffer from overbearing rice proportions and inconsistent cooking, particularly affecting hand rolls. While generally affordable, service can be hit or miss, lacking warmth on occasion. The ambiance is simple yet modern, suitable for quick meals rather than special occasions. The absence of restroom facilities is a noted inconvenience. Overall, the establishment has improved under new ownership, making it a solid spot for casual sushi lovers.

The portions were minuscule, and it seemed like all the food had been microwaved, as it was barely warm. The garlic mayo chicken was mostly rice, with only about half a cup of chicken. The hand rolls were also predominantly rice. I am genuinely extremely disappointed with the quality of the food and pretty upset about the experience.
Giving this place two stars because I wasn't greeted coming in. I ordered my food and felt zero customer service. As soon as i ordered the lady went to the back and paid no attention to me. I spent almost $20 on a bowl and a spam roll and it wasn't even really good or well portioned. The establishment inside is bare bones. Nothing fantastic. Wouldn't recommend.
The sushi is decent, but there is a lot of rice in the rolls, and the prices are quite steep. Additionally, the customer service could be improved. For the same price as a single roll here—which contains only about one-tenth of a pound of fresh ahi—I could get half a pound of fresh ahi and some rice at the restaurant across the street.
First time trying sushiya and it was amazing! Place my order online and it was ready for pick up within 10mins.
