I went for a late lunch, so the restaurant was fairly empty. It had been a while since my last visit, and I was eager to see if the food was still as good as I remembered. I decided to try the rabbit bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup), and I’m glad I did! The dish featured tender beef pieces and thin slices of Vietnamese ham, all combined with fresh mint, crushed cabbage, sliced jalapeños, and a splash of lemon juice—it... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Pho Saigon:
My Hai Nam Chicken Rice is so different from other place.... rice so white don't taste any Hai Nam Chicken booth and Chicken so dried and only come with one sauce (original 3 sauce) but my husband special combo rice was better than mine lunch. The price for the Hai Nam not worth it price for it. View all feedback.
Food: $18 for a bowl of pho… Broth is just alright. I’ve had better. Only got a couple strips of meat… They do give a good amount of bean sprouts and Thai basil appears fresh.Service: Other customers seated after us was already ordering before us. I pushed the little call button they have by table but that is pointless. And made eye contact with the waiter, who then ignored me. I finally was able to wave down the waiter, who wasn’t all that friendly. It was already stressful enough having a fussy hungry toddler, so I was annoyed. Also asked the lady who delivered the food to have bean sprouts cooked, and she replied “you should’ve said something when you ordered.” The busboy was nice though.Overall: Will not recommend or come back.
I come here with my family about once a month or so and was always satisfied with our food. However, this review is based on a recent visit. We arrived at 8pm (we were aware the restaurant was closing at 9pm) and thought we had ample time to dine in. However, by 8:40pm, one of the waiters dropped off the check and within a minute came back to tell us to pay our bill. After we paid and I was still in the process of signing the bill, the waiter was standing right by our table waiting for me to give him the signed receipt back. Lastly, by 8:55pm my party and another group left as you could tell they wanted us out as other employees already left and the waiter was just standing by our tables waiting for us to leave as the other employees already had the chains out to lock the door and finished cleaning the rest of the restaurant. I understand that it's closing time but I feel like the way we were rushed out wasn't appropriate. Will I be coming back? Maybe but definitely not in the last hour of them closing.
We originally went to another place for pho but they had lost their liquor license so we went two blocks to Pho Saigon. Luckily, they still have their liquor license! I was only interested in their braised duck noodle soup. I was completely satisfied with the great broth the tenderness of the duck leg and the Al dente egg noodles. This is now our go-to Vietnamese restaurant in the Kapiolani area. My wife had the pork chop with garlic shrimp. It was very yummy too. Almost made me wanna switch meals with her. I'll have to order that next time we go back. Good, attentive service and ample free parking.
Delicious rare beef and meatball Pho! Generous portions and speedy service.
The aroma of basil fills the air. The dining area accommodates more seating than the average resturant in Honolulu. The Pho warmed me up and was authentic. An older man who worked there explained ther Pho is slowly made over a dozen hours. The Broth contained a depth of flavor I've come to expect from Pho after living in Houston's China Town district. It took two or three attempts for my friend to get extra table service but I wouldn't hold that against this place. But it's an opportunity to make the place even better. Thank you for upholding and preserving the authentic taste of Vietnamese cuisine.
