Growing up, pasteles were my favorite comfort food. I have so many fond memories of the holidays when my grandfather would bring us home delicious treats like pastries, sweet rice, and Bacalao salad. I've never tasted pasteles quite as delicious as the ones from the Pastele Shop. View all feedback.
What Jose Rosario Santiago doesn't like about Pastele Shop:
The Puerto Rican food here is not authentic, as Elizabeth pointed out. If you're seeking genuine Puerto Rican cuisine, I would recommend Coquito’s instead. Food rating: 1/5. View all feedback.

Since relocating from Chicago to Oahu, my wife and I have been craving some good home-cooked meals. We were delighted by the delicious pastels and the gandule rice was fantastic as well. We will definitely be returning customers!
Hello, everyone! I’m not sure if you're familiar with Hawaii's diverse food culture, but this restaurant beautifully combines traditional flavors with a modern twist. One of the most challenging dishes to find, in my opinion, is a good pastel. If I come across a big one here, I’m sure this will become a regular spot for me. So, I encourage you to check it out and share your thoughts! The owner at the front will be thrilled to welcome you.
I've been in this place for over fifty years. I lived in Kalihi in my youth. I live in California now. My mom would come here to buy pastels, even though we would make them family. It is labor intensive. I love the pastels here. Just like my mother. Gandule rice is as good as my mother's. More sofrito and gandules, please. My mother would also add black olives and pork. I buy at least two dozen frozen to California
A very cool little restaurant away from Waikiki. The place has been making great pasteles for 30 years. Parking is limited as well as seating inside. It's a short drive from Waikiki and is very much worth it. Super friendly service. Bite squad friendly. Roamingsmith.blog
