This is a small hidden gem of a café offering authentic food and drinks from Hong Kong. Nothing beautiful, a super casual. Three times here (from the state). If you like wonton, they offer authentic won tons in their homemade bones broth soup w/baby boys choy; together with beef in soup w/noodles (to name some) both delish! Also some of their drinks, really good. Breakfast and breakfast sandwiches are great (crust-fr... View all feedback.
During the weekdays it can be a bit hectic in Chinatown. The Cultural Plaza is usually a bit quieter than the street and has areas to sit to eat or play chess on one of the tables with embedded checkerboards. There is a public toilet room here that was closed during the pandemic locks, but I think now is open again. The architecture and decorative details are really beautiful. This area usually says quite clean, with many of the uninhabited residents help to get the throw that the buyers create. During the day it is quite safe in this area, but it depends on young people (NOT homeless), who attack and predator people late at night - especially our transient Torx, but I hear they also aim at other people. Make sure to keep your wits about you and travel in groups if possible. And only because I want to emphasize that the homeless are not dangerous here (generally) and should be treated with dignity and respect.
Sadly, many of the little shops and associations are currently closed, but during the daytime weekday at least, there are a couple of restaurants and produce stands in the very back. Friendly service and a good variety of ingredients for cooking Chinese food (dried mushrooms, lotus flowers, spices, seaweeds... spices and sauces and pastes... in addition to fresh fruits vegetables).
Some pretty good eats here including dim sum and noodle soup. Great to see representation of Taiwanese culture and community as well.
Lots of interesting produce and all sorts of oriental specialties. There's a store exclusively dedicated to sauces and condiments. Also, some oriental antique stores.
We love coming here for dim sum. Fook Lam has the best variety of dim sum options. Theur back char siu bao is soooo yum! They validate your parking too.
