Bethel Union - Honolulu

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on Bethel Union, a restaurant where I used to enjoy my Friday pau hana. It was a place where I could relax at the bar, chat with the bartender, and order dinner. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the restaurant will be able to recover as vaccination rates rise. After 16 months of the pandemic and still going into the office every day, I'm on the lookout for a new favorite spot to unwind.

I really enjoy the happy hour specials and atmosphere at this restaurant. I have had both lunch and dinner here with friends, and the food is consistently delicious. It's a great place to hang out. The only downside is that the wine is pricey during dinner. I wish they offered a more affordable house wine option after happy hour.

Cozy Downtown restaurant with amazing ambience in the back dining area.

Poor service and management. Seems as if they can't handle busy nights which translates into poor customer service. We waited 25 minutes for our reservation and left after another 25 minutes after not being offered water or alcoholic beverages. The male server that was in charge of our area repeatedly scanned the area and decided to not even acknowledge us. On the way out we asked the parties around us how they were doing and they explained that they ordered 1+ hour earlier and were still waiting for their food. No Aloha from or for this restaurant.

Showed up there last night for a date WITH RESERVATION. Waited over 25 minutes to be seated. Service was awful and so slow. Ambiance was nice but it was incredibly loud inside. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place... I saw other parties wait even longer to be seated and they also had reservations. Sad to have to give a 1 star review, but experience was truly terrible...
