I always dine at the Driftwood when I am in Hay River. However, yesterday's meal was disappointing. The buffalo burger I had was overly processed and lacked flavor.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but it was busy so decided to go here for breakfast. Was greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. Ordered a grilled ham and bacon panini, hashbrown and coffee. Reasonably priced, friendly atmosphere (including the...locals). Oh, and the lightest and fluffiest cinnamon bun EVER! Order at the counter, sit down and it comes served to you. Breakfast is as large as hashbrowns and bacon egg mcmuffins from McDonalds, but better tasting. We could have shared! For this price..... well worth it! I'm stuffed like a BigMac! Another customer ordered a Macciato coffee and I had to enquire about it cause it smells and looks so good!!! He said it's amazing! Guess what I'm getting when I walk outta here!! Lol

I eat a lot of burgers and the diner burger is very tasty with a deep beefy flavour that wasn't overwhelmed by the toppings of mushrooms, bacon, and cheese. The fries that came with it were good but the burger was the star of the...meal. I had to get my food to go so I can't comment of the service but what I saw was quick and friendly service. There seemed to be a lot of regular customers that talked with passing staff.

The food was fine. We were there for breakfast but the service was surly and rude. The server forgot one of our breakfasts and accused us of not ordering it even though we said orders of pancakes one with bacon and one with sausage. The breakfast came just as we were all finishing and then she presented a bill for the missing order. When we suggested the last breakfast should've been complimentary she snatched the bill from my hand and angrily said fine don't pay and stalked away. It was a pretty unpleasant experience. We won't be back.
