Sparky's - HATCH
Sparky's
Description
Nestled in historic Hatch, this retro-style diner offers a vibrant 1950s atmosphere complete with neon lights and blues music, creating a memorable dining experience. Known for its green chili cheeseburgers, the menu also features standout chicken sandwiches, pulled pork, and unique drinks like espresso milkshakes and creatively named lemonades. While service can be slow during busy times and prices are moderate, the friendly staff and generous portions make it worthwhile. Though some expect more classic burger toppings, the flavorful Texas toast and honey mustard are crowd favorites. A must-visit spot for anyone passing through Hatch seeking authentic local charm and hearty fare.

We arrived in Hatch around lunch on Tuesday 8/9/22 with one goal? burgers at the famed Sparky?s!! As we got closer to town, hungry l, we were excited for a good meal in one of America?s well-known kitschy places. But, alas, we got there and the placewas closed. In fact, all the places to eat in town were closed. On a Tuesday!! What?? Well, at least we got outside photos ofthe place. That was fun!
As soon as you walk in there are beautiful neon lights all around the mood is set to a 50?s diner they had blues music playing while we sat ate. I ordered the chicken tenders would recommend ordering a burger instead. Although, the Texas toastwas yummy along with the wedge fries ! I also ordered the espresso milkshake and would only recommend if you enjoy the intensitycoffee flavor can offer. Lastly the sweet tea here is surely Texas approved. I could of downed a whole gallon hahaha. Thank youfor being open! (I also included pictures of my parents order of a burger the all beef hot dog.
Loved the interior decor and layout, the burger was fair. We both tried the #1 special, burger with green chilis, fries and a drink. We expected lettuce and a tomato and onion, wouldn?t want pickles, but that would have made the burger 5 stars.
The atmosphere is great. The green chili cheeseburger was really good (not the best I've had, but good). Took over 40 minutes to get 2 burgers and 2 milk shakes. But worth a visit!
We arrived in Hatch around lunchtime on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, eager to try one of America’s most iconic quirky eateries. Being near the city and quite hungry, we had high hopes for a great meal at Sparky's. Unfortunately, when we got there, the restaurant was closed. It turned out that almost every restaurant in town was closed that Tuesday! On the bright side, we did manage to snap some amusing photos of the outside of Sparky's.
