Description

This dining establishment, set within a tranquil monastery, offers a picturesque ambience and a unique experience, making it a popular venue for special celebrations. While the atmosphere and service have received praise, the food has garnered mixed reviews, with several patrons expressing disappointment over taste and preparation. Diners appreciate the opportunity to bring their own wine, yet the high prices are expected to reflect food quality. Visitors enjoy exploring the stunning grounds, often accompanied by peacocks, although some noted the slow service may detract from the overall experience.

This restaurant means business—it's truly exceptional. It's perfect for celebrating special occasions. Feel free to bring your own wine, as they only serve soft drinks and coffee. The grounds are stunning, so make sure to set aside half an hour to explore them. While we dined, peacocks wandered around just outside the windows. It’s a remarkable experience and a true gem in Michigan. I highly recommend visiting this somewhat hidden spot in the city.

I am absolutely thrilled with the exquisite vegan food I enjoyed at the Christmas tea held at the Royal Eagle, located on the grounds of St. Sabbas Orthodox Monastery. I particularly loved the napkins, which were beautifully folded by the monks. Please note that modest attire is required, as it is a monastery.

I really wanted to give a stellar review. Let me start off by saying the service and the atmosphere was outstanding. The food was a different story. We went to celebrate my 50th birthday. We don't mind paying high prices for great food. Unfortunately this was not the case. We went for the smoke house meats. It was way too salty. My husband sausage board was almost not edible chewy, salty and hard. His cut of prime rib was dried out. The apple strudel was burned on the bottom and the apple filling must have evaporated. The tea was great and the napoleon was the highlight of the meal. We spent a lot of money here. I'm glad it went to support the monastery. If you are going to commend high prices quality of the food should follow.

Not impressed service was slow we waited 35 minutes before the waitress even came to the table .They forgot our salmon sandwiches our soup was cold and not even a half a bowl. I had heard nothing but very good things about this place . I was disappointing.
