We dined at Rudi's this evening, our server, Natasha was lovely. We loved the ambiance. Cocktails were good. We did have an order or truffles fries to start which were delicious however our meals were very bland . We both ordered the statler chicken and it was lacking salt and flavor. We actually had to ask for a salt shaker! Our creme brûlée was soupy, not a great food experience :
Quaint restaurant. Service was excellent. Highly recommend eating there. The food was exceptionally good! I had the Salmon Belly bites with sweet potato strips drizzled with honey. My husband enjoyed his calamari. For our meals I had Salmon with mashed potatoes, snap peas with edible flowers. Husband had linguine with clams, lobster and shrimp. For dessert he had cream brulee topped with a crisp and blueberries and strawberries. We drove from Connecticut. Our compliments to Executive chef Logan and Sous chef Davin. We will definitely make the trip back up here. You will thoroughly enjoy your meal. We will make the trip up again real soon.
We used to frequent Rudi 's a bit before the pandemic as it had one of the best happy hour deals in town. This was our first return trip since the pandemic began, and while the happy hour is no longer offered, I 'm happy to say we enjoyed a nice meal with friends. Although we were only a party of 5, we were seated in the board room , which we enjoyed having all to ourselves without worry of anybody else near us. We noticed the bar areas were busy, but the dining room overall was not overly crowded. They also have a nice outdoor dining space for those who are more comfortable outside. We had a server in training, and she had an experienced waitress following her around. While you could tell she was new and slightly nervous, she was just fine and the pair ensured we had a great meal and evening. We shared the hummus plate for an appetizer which was very nice, along with the cocktails. I enjoyed the salmon entree which was nicely done, and I loved the horseradish mashed potatoes. My wife had a duck special which she enjoyed. The only entree which could have been better was the pan seared Halibut. I could tell from across the table that it was just a tad overcooked and dry, and my friend agreed. Certainly not something to send back or complain about, but I just wish the kitchen had paid more attention and not overcooked such a beautiful piece of fish. Another guest had the short ribs, which she described as excellent. All in all a good meal which everybody enjoyed. Rudi 's remains a solid choice when dining in Portsmouth

I 'd like to give 3.5 stars, but not possible on Tripadvisor. Certainly would have been 4 stars had the Halibut entree been cooked properly.
