Chez Boucher - Hampton
Chez Boucher
Description
Bogie’s is a small, friendly bar-restaurant tucked behind Hampton Town Square offering standout cocktails, a solid draft list, live music and generous portions—particularly soups, burgers and chicken Marsala. Staff are welcoming and safety-conscious, but service can be slow and staffing thin; food quality is inconsistent (excellent dishes alongside occasional underprepared or tough entrees). Seafood is fresh when available but sometimes runs out. With good parking and a relaxed vibe, it’s a promising local spot best approached with tempered expectations.

I had the best broccoli and cheese soup I've ever tasted. The juicy cheeseburger came with hand-cut fries, and the chicken Marsala was incredibly delicious. The portion sizes were generous, and the draft beer selection was excellent. To top it off, a fantastic country duo even played some blues. I will definitely be returning!
I ordered the hand-cut select steak tips cooked rare, along with a dinner salad that came straight out of a bag with the cheapest BC dressing. When the steak tips arrived, they were so tough that I couldn't even stick my fork into them. I tried cutting them into smaller pieces to eat, but it was nearly impossible. I never saw my server again after that. Eventually, I pushed the half-eaten meal aside. When my server finally took the plate, she asked if I was done. I replied yes and asked if she wasn't going to inquire about my meal's quality. I told her it was terrible, and she simply said, "Okay, here's your bill." After reading other reviews, it's clear that I'm not the only one who has had a negative experience here.
This is a fantastic little bar with delicious food. On Tuesday afternoon, the bartender was the sole staff member, but he performed wonderfully. The drinks were superb, and the appetizers were just right for our girls' trip. The establishment was clean and well-prepared for Covid safety.
I visited for lunch with a friend. First thing I noticed—heavy disinfect smell. At least it’s clean! Bare bones staffing waitress serves as hostess and bartender. That’s ok. And a cook, I think. The bar was busy but not the restaurant where only my friend and another couple sat. The waitress answered our questions and we placed our orders at noon. Simple sandwiches. We were finally served 45 minutes later! Luckily we’re both retired and not on a lunch hour. My friend’s French Dip was not very good , she reported. (The waitress did comp the sandwich which was very kind. . I ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich—very good! I’d be reluctant to try a second time.
After the space that had previously been Depot Square Bistro closed and was reopened as Bogie’s my wife visited for lunch with a friend. My wife ordered a Caesar Salad- a common lunch order for her- and was served a salad that lacked both the cheese and the dressing that make a Caesar Salad a Caesar Salad. The owner ,who was acting as the chef promptly corrected the mistakes( he had made) after being informed by my wife. Our confidence in their competence was weakened and we haven’t been back. Perhaps that was a one time error in their early existence and hopefully wasn’t indicative.
