The Arms was one of the last places we visited for brunch during our trip to Halifax, and it didn’t disappoint. Located right inside The Lord Nelson Hotel (where we stayed , the ambience strikes a nice balance between English elegance and a cozy pub. The Seafood Chowder was rich yet light, letting the freshness of the seafood really shine. I had the English Style Fish and Chips, and it was delicious! The fries were soft inside with a crispy crunch on the outside, while the cod was nicely battered and fried—crispy but not heavy at all. Everything was fresh, well balanced, and seasoned just right. Our server, Ethan (if I remember correctly! , was calm, professional, and friendly. They were quick and attentive when taking our orders, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a brunch spot with great food and warm service in Halifax, The Arms is definitely worth a visit : I’m hoping to grab dinner here next time we visit! We ate breakfast at the Arms while staying at the Lord Nelson hotel. The breakfast might have been my favourite meal of the trip. At the end of the day we enjoyed drinks at the bar. My only gripe was the absence of substantial ice cubes in my Old Fashioned, using regular ice instead, which melted quickly and watered it down a little. The Arms Public House was disappointing for my friend who came to visit from Montreal. After strolling through the Spring Garden Road area, it seemed like the perfect spot to enjoy a meal outside in the sun. My previous experiences there had always been enjoyable with great food, but this time it fell short. We adjusted the umbrella to escape the sun's glare and found a lovely spot for people-watching. The drinks were fine, but the food was mediocre. The Angus beef burger did not impress my guest, and my chicken was dry. When we mentioned this to our server, they looked caught off guard, as if they didn’t know how to respond. A little extra sauce could have saved the chicken, but none was offered. There was no comment about passing our feedback to the kitchen—just the server took our payment and moved on to the next table. It’s a shame because the location and layout are quite nice.

I've visited this restaurant multiple times and while the food is tasty, it tends to be overly greasy. Additionally, the service can be quite rude, often making you feel rushed to finish your meal. Despite this, I've created many good memories there.
