When trying to stand out as a sefood resturant located, when you're located in city on the Atlantic coast, you have to be extremely special. It's hard to go above and beyond you comparators, but ol' Phil seems to have found a way. Im not sure how they make their batter, but I would say it is the best I've had. They seem to use the perfect amount of batter to compliment there always fresh haddock and it's cooked perfect every time. There mussels are also great with a rich sauce that really suits everything else I seem to e eating, and must be the cheapest proce for a pound in the city. There fries are hit or miss o find, often not chrispy enough on the outside for my liking. But all in all Phil's fish and chips are a must try for any haddock lovers in Halifax. With a non-alcoholic drink, tax and tip you're looking at under 15$
I love their pan fried haddock with an awesome spinach salad. It's so good I pass up the fries... and I never pass up fries.
My family found this restaurant while we were strolling down Quinpool Road last summer. The fish was lightly battered and not at all greasy. It was served fresh, fast and with a smile. What the décor lacked, the food more than made up for!
Delicious seafood and homey digs at this restaurant! There's a broad range of options to choose from the seafood chowder is a very popular and delicious dish, as are the seafood plates. Service is great at this location, and the servers are always happy to suggest pairings and specials for the day. There's ample space for dining in as well. Definitely worth eating here if you're a local or even a tourist!
Super tasty, huge portions and a really nice restaurant! This was our first stop in NS we were craving seafood and the reviews for Phil's were high and we were close so we went in. We were very happy with our order, both of us got the fish and chips cooked differently and they were both stellar! Can't wait to go back
