The Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich was absol... read more Today my family and I visited Sunnyside mall and I decided to grab lunch from the lunch counter at Pete’s Frootique. The Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich was absolutely delicious!! I was so eager to dig in that I forgot to snap a picture before devouring it. I paired it with some Covered Bridge Sea Salt chips. I will definitely be ordering this sandwich again in the future. The service from Braeden and Emma was excellent. They made sure to clean their hands before preparing our orders and accommodated my husband's particular taste in condiments. Their attention to detail was much appreciated.

The service was slow even though there... read more We often visit this restaurant when we are in Nova Scotia, but this time was the worst experience we have had in a while. The service was slow even though there were plenty of staff behind the counter and it was completely disorganized. My spouse wanted the advertised BLT sandwich but was told they had no bacon, only bacon bits. It was attached to a supermarket and not having bacon was ridiculous. It was a Friday and they were out of supplies. She ended up choosing something else and when we went to pay, we had to wait what felt like an eternity to get our sandwiches. When we sat down at our table, we realized there were no napkins. We went back to the counter to ask for some napkins, only to be told they were out. In times of COVID, being out of napkins on a Friday afternoon was unacceptable. This restaurant needs a lot of improvement, as they were out of basic supplies on a Friday afternoon and the service was mediocre at best.

A few years ago, Pete’s was known for their stunning artisanal fresh fruit platters that truly stood out and were well worth the price. However, the platter I picked up today (May 2023) was quite underwhelming. It didn’t include any exotic fruits, and the arrangement was lacking creativity. The attention to detail was poor, with uneven cuts, and it was clearly made the day before, resulting in soggy pieces underneath. I could easily make a better platter myself or just buy one from a basic grocery store. I’m really disappointed.

Their produce is significantly better than that of national chains, and they also have a solid selection of international foods.
