Wow, what an incredible experience! If you’re ever in Halifax or anywhere in Nova Scotia, you absolutely must visit Bar Kismet. Some of the best dishes I’ve ever had – I would have ordered the entire menu if we had the room! Our server, Kolby, was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about the food and drinks, making our culinary experience a perfect 20/10. I will definitely be back, no question about it! Thank you... What Ivy Li dislikes about Kismet:
Despite the hours posted, Kismet has been closed every time I€™ve tried to go. If you€™re closed on Sundays, please update your hours. I€™ve made the trip to the bar a few times now and every time you€™re closed. Please be organized and reflect your actual hours so you don€™t lead people there unnecessarily. View all feedback.

I concluded my culinary experience in Halifax on a high note at Bar Kismet with their incredible spaghetti (alla chitarra) al limone with summer squash. The handcrafted pasta had a delightful chewiness, the sauce was wonderfully creamy, and the fresh zucchini, along with a hint of lemon and a kick of freshly cracked pepper, made it absolutely delicious! I truly appreciated everything about this charming restaurant—the decor, the ambiance, the cocktails, the food, and even the company. Thank you, Halifax, for your hospitality. Until we meet again!

Although our reservation was for a two-hour time slot, we weren't rushed to leave after that period; we were just finishing our dessert when we left. I noticed a previous review mentioned this as a downside, but to me, it seems like a safety measure they have in place in case they need to ask a lingering table to make space for others. After all, it is a business!

What an excellent place! The food was fantastic—we tried the tuna tartar, a cod dish, and one of the seasonal cheeses. The tuna tartar was outstanding; the cod was delicious but quite rich and oily, mainly due to the potato patty. The cheese was incredible as well. Our server, who was one of the bartenders, was professional, polite, and friendly. I recommend sitting at one of the dining tables instead of the bar seats, as the latter don’t have backs and aren't very comfortable for sitting.

I visited Bar Kismet last month and had another wonderful experience. I’ve also dined here in September 2021 and 2022, always enjoying the cozy patio, a variety of creative dishes, and great conversations with the staff. This time, I sat at the bar and was once again blown away—the food, ambiance, and especially the team were exceptional. It’s clear the staff love working here, and that energy shines through in every interaction. Even though it’s a seven-hour drive from Bar Harbor, Maine, I always make it a point to come back—and I absolutely will again on my next trip in late September. Bar Kismet is hands down my favorite restaurant in Atlantic Canada, and I can’t recommend it enough! Price per person: $80–90 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We heard about this place a year ago and came to Halifax last week with the plan of eating here. We checked the website a few times and Google. No mention that they decided to close for the long weekend. We decided our food, trekked over here in the rain... and saw a sign posted on the door saying closed. We leave Halifax tomorrow. Please update the website next time you close at length. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
